Last Friday's first-round of our Halo: Reach tournament went off without a hitch (except, of course, a couple late dropouts and one power outage). For three hours, the Bitmob community kicked the snot out of each other and loved it (except, of course, anyone who played against Sensei Squushy and his Alpha Team).

Here are the first-round standings and the scheduled matches for tomorrow's semifinals and finals, where Bitmob will be giving a copy of Halo: Reach Legendary Edition to each member of the winning team.

Division 1

1. Alpha Team -- 4-0
2. Wolverines -- 3-1
3. Charlie Team -- 2-2
4. Bravo Team -- 0-3-1*
5. Echo Team  -- 0-3-1*

Division 2

1. Whiskey Team -- 4-0
2, Yankee Team -- 3-1
3. Victor Team -- 2-2
4. Zulu Team -- 1-3
5. Xray Team -- 0-4

Based on first-round standings, here are the matches for Friday, October 22.

Semifinal 1 -- 6:00 p.m. PST

Alpha Team vs. Yankee Team

Semifinal 2 -- 6:00 p.m. PST

Whiskey Team vs. Wolverines

Rules for Semifinals:
Best two out of three -- Team slayer to 50 points
First map: Reflection
Second map: Powerhouse
Third map (if necessary): Zealot

Finals -- 6:30 p.m. PST

Winner of Semifinal 1 vs. Winner of Semifinal 2

Rules for Finals:
Best three out of five -- Team slayer to 50
First map: Sword Base
Second map: Countdown
Third map: Zealot
Fourth map (if necessary): Powerhouse
Fifth map (if necessary): Boardwalk

Congrats to Alpha, Wolverines, Whiskey, and Yankee! Here's who will be vying for the prizes:

Alpha Team
Jesse Herrera -- Sensei Squushy
Benjamin Brewer -- brew7
Cyr Ng -- ArcticTundra
Matthew Orona -- RidgeRacerX

Wolverines
Alexander Spruch -- Spruchy86
Dan Hsu -- Bitmob Shoe
Daniel Collotte -- Redbluefire
Rondrae Reid -- drae47

Whiskey Team
Jon Shults -- SmakXD
Rodrigo Pardo -- rod150
Shawn Hestley -- audio shawn
Jon Cole -- Jonac13

Yankee Team
Louis Garcia -- Louis Kensei
Schuyler Paul -- ErrorDante
Bob Blandeburgo -- MadBrown
Michael Johnson -- Cioudbuster

The winners of the finals should email me, andrew.hiscock@bitmob.com, with their addresses. Dan Hsu of the Wolverines is not eligible for prizes, so if his team wins, the best player on the losing team will get his copy.

And thank you to everyone else for participating. No one should feel ashamed by their performance...those are four very good teams.

*The match between Bravo Team and Echo Team ended as a draw, as both teams won one match in the best two-out-of-three before calling the game because someone had to put their kid to bed...I mean in the name of good sportsmanship.

I had a great time, and would like to thank everyone for playing!

I'm scared! Especially of SENSEI.

Why am I the one getting shotgunned?

Win or lose, this was great fun. Great people all around in each game I played in. We should do these more often, just community play dates, no prize needed. Id much rather play with you guys than the normal flock of Halo folk I come across way to often in game.

As for being shotgunned, I believe that is Bryan taking the lead in the bottom screen. In the top picture, that was just before Squushy meleed you, and just after he grenaded me on a ricochet. The man is Halo Poetry in motion.

This was a lot of fun....too bad my stupid power went out during our third matchup. I have the gas-powered generator in my living room for tonight's matchup. ;)

Sensei is incredible. I'm just thankful to be on his team. Go Alpha!

Who ended up winning? We (Team Yankee) were with Shoe and his team trying to get a third place match in and trying to follow the final match-up's score. Looked like you guys were on the fourth map, so it must have been close.

Anywho, it's been said before, but Sensei Squishy owns. I did get a kill on him though, and I will cherish it forever :)

We need to get a game night together again soon!

It had to be alpha, I'm guessing. I'll look over at Bungie.net to see if I can find the result (love that site).

Sensei completely owned. When we (Yankee) first started, everyone was crouching and walking slowly. I got tired of it because I hate camping, but I found out why they all were so timid. That guy is freaking scary good, and if he's not pro he should be. After getting demolished in our first game with Alpha, my sole mission in the second game was to kill Sensei. I came close, but never got that kill. I clung extra hard to my blankie last night.

Yeah, Alpha won.

Check out Sensei's game history: http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Reach/PlayerGameHistory.aspx?player=Sensei%20Squushy

Look at the two games on 10/22, one at 6:47 p.m. and the next at 6:56 p.m. His spreads were +17 and +22 respectively. Sick.

One more thing...if anyone from the very final match could upload a film to their fileshare, it would be appreciated.
