March is Women’s History Month, so it’s time for us to reflect on the virtual girls who made our lives. Here are the rules for this month’s Bitmob Writing Challenge:
- Write about any girl from a video-game series using your best porno prose. Comment on Lara Croft’s breasts or Chun Li’s thighs and describe how these ladies “turned us into men.”
- Include a backhanded compliment like “She’s smart and sexy” or “she can kick our ass anytime.”
- Keep the article under 80 words. Having too much text will get in the way of our commissioned beach artwork.
Wait a second… that doesn’t sound right.
More and more women play video games, but their depictions in most titles are often either the immaculate damsel in distress or the sexy bad girl. The portrayal of these heroines and the treatment of girl gamers in general have been hot issues of late, so now is a good time to take an in-depth look at these female avatars.
To celebrate Women’s History Month, I’m asking you to write about girl characters that made a positive difference in our hobby. You can pick leading ladies like Metroid's Samus Aran and Jade from Beyond Good and Evil or choose from hundreds of supporting cast members. If you think the Princess Peaches and Bayonettas of gaming deserve more respect than what people give them credit for, tell us why.
The rules are:
- Write a 400-800 word article on one girl from a video game, discussing her character and contribution to her series.
- Include Real Girls of Gaming in the tags so I can find them in a search.
- Post it in the Mobfeed by Thursday, March 31st.
