Comedians Sheila Bryson and Dave Karraker join Bitmob's Dan Hsu and Demian Linn on the latest and greatest episode of the Mobcast.

The group discusses each person's first professional experience in the gaming industry, Nintendo's recent press event, interesting console launches, personal metrics of nerd cred, and which game hunks Sheila finds attractive.

Just thought you should know there's a type-o in the mp3 tag. The artist is "Bitmob.cin" XD

Am I the only one who thinks those comedians aren't funny?

@Kai Nope, and I think the quality of the podcast in general has dipped considerably. There’s no rapport no fun or energy. It’s a far cry from the early episodes which were a joy to listen to. The past few topics have been boring too. This episode is especially bad, why even entertain Sheila’s idiotic topic? Videogame guys you think she likes?! WTF! Or was this an attempt at humour?

The casual racism thrown around wasn’t cool either. Bring back Robert Ashley.

@Dean
I suppose this episode was not the greatest - but I have to disagree with you that the Mobcast has been going down hill.

Episode 41 was probably my all time favorite.

As for the most recent guests on the show and the way I see it...

The Mobcast is an open forum for guests to talk about whatever they want. If Bitmob put a restriction on the type of topics ("idiotic" or not) that were discussed on the podcast or on the site even - then I am sure that the overall content would become a lot less interesting Mini-Mobfeed would be a lot less crowded.

I thought a lot of the jokes were funny and the inside perspective from anyone who works in the industry is always interesting to me. (Not to mention people like Dave with an insider perspective on historic events like the transition from 2d to 3d console games)

As for your concern about racism, I can see where you are coming from. Even more so if you are gay or of Asian heritage. However, I am pretty sure that none of the comments were intended to be offensive in a hurtful manner. However, I am simply judging my assumption based on Hsu and Demians reactions to any "underhanded" comments in question.

In any case. I agree with you. Racism is not cool.

@Evan I’m not saying that there should be a restriction on what topics get discussed on the Mobcast. I’m just pointing out that Sheila’s topic was a waste of time and of no general interest to the gaming community in my opinion. Really, who care’s which game characters she thinks are hot or not?!

The reason I listen to the Mobcast is because of the format. I believe this podcast was one of the better ones for bucking the traditional round table discussion of the latest gaming news etc. I just don’t see what value topics of that nature bring to the discussion.

Perhaps I was a bit hard on this episode, as the launch day stories were indeed funny and interesting. It was mainly the first half that was poor.

I’m pretty sure also that those comments weren’t meant to be offensive, which is why I said “casual“ racism. However, in some ways that is worse than an all-out racial tirade because they think it’s ok to say those things and people won’t take offence. There needs to be a line.

The story about the candidate who didn't know how to hold a controller properly made me giddy with schadenfreude.

Oh, and as a long-time vodka drinker I can safely say that SKYY is one of my favourites to drink neat.

In terms of this episode...I honestly didn't find much humor, although the launch day stories were gold. While I appreciate the 'any topic goes' format, I have to agree with some of the other comments that Sheila's topic seemed a bit out of place. I think the problem really stems from the fact that there's not really any discussion that results from such a topic, and the discussion is what I come to Bitmob for. I'm ok with this kind of thing coming up every now and then in order to preserve the spirit of the 'everything goes' format. So long as it doesn't happen every week, I can deal. :-)

http://twitter.com/DustiMills/status/10457424970 - I'd prefer the Bioshock 2 Collectors Edition box. I was replaying Metal Gear Solid while I listened to this podcast, and it helped calm my frustrations on the fist fight with Liquid. The same things I yelled about when I played it so many years ago hadn't changed.
