My Palace of Shame

Everyone has a pile of shame.  A list of games that, for whatever reason, people have never had the time to play.  My pile of shame is not a pile, but a palace, for in it some of the best games that were ever made reside.

I got out of Videogames when I went to College in 1995, and I did not return to my Childhood pastime until 2002.  I did go out of my way to play Ocarina of Time, but that was it.  This means that I missed the entire PSOne era.  I was able to catch up on Dreamcast and N64 titles, but not until the Playstation Store and the PSP have I had the chance to play old PSOne games.

And the game that I am currently playing that I totally missed out on is Final Fantasy VII.

Playing FFVII for the first time for me feels like watching something like Star Wars for the first time.  I have heard about this game for 12 years.  I have heard the plot points many times from friends.  I have watched Advent Children a number of times, and I have tried Diege of Cerberus and Crisis Core.  Even if someone has never seen a Star Wars movie, most know the basics, and I felt that I knew the basics about FFVII and was honestly looking forward to the game.

And I am really enjoying it.  The last Final Fantasy game I played through was VI, so it is very interesting to see the innovations in VII.  It is even cooler to see the small story I saw in Advent Children expanded into a 40-hour epic.  Even if I am experiencing the story in reverse.

A couple weeks ago Jenny Tsao asked the community for games on the PSOne that were little known and people may have missed.

I am asking the community for PSOne games that even if I played for the first time today, would still be good and relevant, for I am having a blast with FFVII.

And I still am unable to leave comments on Bitmob, but I do appreciate your suggestions!!

I wonder what you would've thought if you had played FF7 after playing 8, 9, 10, 12, etc. My pile of shame (although that's a weird thing to call it -- feels like I should be embarrassed to play these titles)... Beyond Good and Evil Final Fantasy 12 Resident Evil Zero Probably lots more. Hey Lance: Why do you center justify your text like that? Looks weird!

You have to play Beyond Good & Evil Shoe. It's one of the best adventure games I've played in recent years. Getting the Steam version to run properly on Vista was a hassle, but the game was well worth it. I just beat it a few months ago and am eagerly anticipating numero dos.

A friend of mine told me that Beyond Good and Evil hasn't aged well...that it maybe isn't worth playing anymore....

@Brian - I have avoided it, and I will continue to do so. I feel my life is better that way. @Dan - I agree with your Friend, and will add that lots of games are considered great simply because they did not sell... Beyond Good and Evil is one of these. I would rather replay Wind Waker, and THAT should say it all....
