The 3DS price drop indicates that Nintendo knows the landscape has changed, but will its strategy -- not just its prices -- change to reflect that?

Nintendo President Satoru Iwata will slash his salary in half as a cost-cutting measure. The Japanese video-game corporation lost $324 million in the second quarter of its fiscal year. That is the company’s biggest loss in 27 years. The Wii's slow death, the yen's poor conversion rate at the moment, and the 3DS's less than stellar launch are all contributing to this current financial situation. In response, Nintendo lowered the price of its latest portable system from $249.99 to $169.99. In a similar move, Iwata is cutting his own price by 50 percent.  He’s not the only one -- Nintendo’s directors agreed to a 30 percent cut, while company executives will shed 20 percent from their salaries. I bet they'll all return to their previous pay rates once someone thinks of releasing Pokemon: Cash Green. [GamePro]

The 3D remake of Ocarina of Time is the 3DS’s first title to break a million units sold. OK, so the 3DS isn’t doing so hot, but it isn’t all bad news. The majority of complaints surrounding the 3D handheld have focused on the system’s lack of AAA software. Well, Nintendo released an updated The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the 3DS and in one and a half months it sold over a million copies. Imagine how well a big-name title that isn’t 13 years old will sell. [ShackNews]

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson -- or as he is known in my religion: The Scorpion King -- joins the WWE 12 roster if you pre-order the game. For those who don't believe in pre-orders, THQ confirmed that the Doom star will reappear as DLC 90 days after the game’s November 22 release date. Keep in mind, the in-game The Rock in WWE 12 will have his new look (bald head, tank top, tattoos). I just hope his costume from the hit movie Tooth Fairy is unlockable.
