We've finally sniffed out some Modern Warfare 3 info. Haters, of course, are drowning out this news with their complaints of series fatigue. I understand that, but most of this whining is coming from people who still pay $15 a month for World of Warcraft. I don’t really see the distinction between people who do that and people who pay $60 a year for a new Call of Duty.

News Blips:

A number of sources detail this year’s Modern Warfare update. Kotaku claims to have multiple sources with a wealth of information about gaming’s biggest shooter. Modern Warfare 3’s campaign will pick up shortly after the end of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with a Russian invasion of Manhattan. The game will feature around 15 missions, the AC-130 is back, and SEAL Team 6 (the troops responsible for killing Osama Bin Laden) is mentioned throughout. Two Spec Ops modes will headline the cooperative multiplayer, while the competitive aspect will feature around 20 maps set in Brooklyn, London, and Mogadishu. Oh yeah, those sources also mentioned a release date -- look out for the latest Infinity Ward joint on November 8.

Metal Gear Rising and BioShock: Infinite get dates in GameStop’s database. It so happens that the people who need to sell games are often the most informed about their release dates. The video-game retailer has popped Metal Gear Solid: RISING on their release list for November 2, 2012. Meanwhile, BioShock: Infinte has shown up as a February 2, 2012 release. Here is my question: Will RISING be a Project Café launch title as well?

Hackers attack EidosMontreal.com and succeed in stealing users’ personal information. I’m a man of little faith. That means it wasn’t too shocking to realize that hackers have destroyed whatever confidence I had that my personal data was secure. The Square Enix-owned Eidos believes that 25,000 email addresses were stolen. Thankfully, no credit card numbers are at risk, but that won’t stop me from using this incident to explain those Spice Channel charges on my bill to my girlfriend.

Win a trip with Irrational Games to E3 to check out their latest BioShock: Infinite gameplay demo. The developer has posted a notice on their website about a contest where you and a friend can join the team in Los Angeles. Go for it. A ton of Bitmob's staff will be there, and you can always write about your experience here if you win. We’ll be especially excited to hear about the game and any celebrity sightings you may have -- I just love that David Boreanaz on Bones.

Well I entered that contest. Shouldn't be too expensive to send me down the state to go to E3.

"but most of this whining is coming from people who still pay $15 a month for World of Warcraft."

Huh?  How did we find the numbers on this?  I figured it was a bunch of people who got tired of MW after the second iteration and found greener pastures in other shooting games.  Not MMORPGers!  You've changed the way I think about FPS players... apparently they're "mostly" closet MMO fans.  Thank you.

On the other hand, Blizzard isn't making me pay $60 twice a year to be put into the biggest pool of online players on TOP of any possible XBL/PSN fees monthly, so I guess I'm suddenly just fine with that.
