We would say that "Wii" is a better name choice than some of these other options, but in hindsight, they're all kind of cooky.

News Blips:

Zii

Nintendo recently renewed a 2006 trademark request for the term "Zii." Before Engadget uncovered that the trademark was three years old, several sites were speculating as to whether this would be the name for the rumored Wii HD. Other trademarks Nintendo has in Japan are for Cii, Bii, Oii, and Yii. How would you even pronounce some of those? [engadget]

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 may be getting some Mod Tools from Infinity Ward. In a response to a fan's tweet on issues dear to PC gamers, Infinity Ward community manager Robert Bowling teased that there's "Nothing on Dedicated Servers, but there may be some Mod Tools news coming in the future, I'll pass it along once I have it." It's reassuring to know that Infinity Ward hasn't completely turned its back on the PC gaming community. [the escapist]

According to Japanese retailer listings, Sony is planning a reprint of Shadow of the Colossus. The PS2 classic is down for a February 4 rerelease, likely to build anticipation for Team Ico's upcoming PS3 title, Last Guardian. Whether this will be a makeover or a straight reprint has yet to be determined. Here's hoping for an Ico/Shadow of the Colossus two-for-one pack! [CVG]

Square Enix now has its own currency, Crysta, for real world purposes. Crysta (which is on a 1:1 exchange rate with the Japanese Yen) will be used, among other purposes, to purchase soundtracks at Square Enix's E-Store. Is the inflation of Gil too high these days? [Destructoid]

Nintendo is doing secret dealings again, it seems. What the heck are they up to?

It's smart for Sony to reprint Shadow of Colossus, it allows an older game to sell, and because the PS2 is alive, they don't have to port it to their current gen console like Nintendo had to do with their New Play Control series.
