Pac-Man Land: Population 0 Pellets

Pac-Man may not be too popular nowadays, but back in the 80's he was big. How big? Well, apparently he had his own land. Now that's pretty impressive. Mario can't say that. Neither can Master Chief. E.T.? He just has a landfill.

Pac-Man, however, had a whole section of Six Flags Over Texas dedicated to his pill-popping ways. Just checkout this old-school postcard [via technabob]:

We're sad we missed out on potential nightmares from creepy suited Pac-Man fondling. Sigh...

Continue after the break to see more pics via a lovely YouTube video, including a delicious shot of Ms. Pac-Man.

Remember, LSD consumption was a lot higher in the early 80's than it is now....

All blue balls in the ball park = power pellets? Brilliant.

Pac Man looks suspiciously similar to H.R. Puffenstuff. Like, close-down-the-theme-land-to-avoid-an-infringement-suit similar.

@Lance: LSD was hot in the 60s. Cocaine was more the 80's drug.

@Spencer - This may come as a surprise, but LSD has been popular since the late 50's, not 60's, and at my high school LSD was a very popular drug, more than cocaine or weed.

I am referring to the recent article about drug use since 1955, and believe it or not, LSD use peaked in the late 70's, not 60's, and had a resurgence in the 90's. And obviously the designers of the Pac Man park were on some good stuff.
Cocaine is for chumps anyway!

Are you calling Rick James a chump?

Not only were they high enough to conceive the idea of a Pac Man park, they remained that high long enough to see it through construction and opening.
That picture could serve as an ad for DARE.

@Spencer - hmmm.... I think he, Robin Williams, and my buddy John are the exceptions to the rule :)
