As a huge fan of the Civilization series, this latest chapter, Civilization World, has me very intrigued. This is a free-to-play Facebook game that promises to share many of the features of the much beloved series while being more accessible to newcomers. And more importantly, the game has finally been released today.

The idea of Civilization World is very similar to that of Civilization Revolution in that they both attempt to provide a more accessible game than the traditional PC iterations of the series. Sid Meier, who personally programmed his first Civilization game in a long time with Civilization World, is sure that anyone can enjoy this new title: "Civilization World is a fun and engaging game that both fans of the series and fans of Facebook games will find immediately addictive, and we look forward to adding to the experience as the game continues to evolve in this dynamic new gaming world."

The game makes its money through Civ Bucks, which you can buy to speed up processes in the game such as harvests. This follows the trend of late with free-to-play games, as it does not penalize those who do not want to have to spend money on the game. Based on my 15-minute impressions, I will not be one of those people.

Hmm, I might have to give this a try. I might as well bug my Facebook friends with constant status updates about this game, since that's all they do for me.
