PlayStation Move racing wheel

Realizing that a company has not truly embraced motion controls until it has built a bizarre steering-wheel attachment for them, Sony announced the PlayStation Move motion controller for the PlayStation 3 via its official blog immediately following its Monday press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo trade show.

The racing wheel "transforms your PlayStation Move motion controller into the ultimate racing experience, supporting any vehicle you choose to drive," provided that the vehicle is made of polygons, and you don't mind people seeing you using the accessory. The controller slots vertically through the wheel, and gamers grip the handles on either side, above which are most of the buttons you would find on a DualShock 3 (minus shoulder buttons). In addition, the handles simulate both "race car paddle shifters and motorcycle twist throttle controls," and can be flipped out to make handlebars (see below).

The wheel will cost $39.99 when it comes out this fall. The real good news, however, is that we didn't have to watch a live demo of the thing at the conference.

I thought it looked more like those ships from the game Radiant Silvergun.

Hey, remember when the PS3 supported almost any USB steering wheel controller? You know, before Sony pushed out that update that disabled a bunch of third-party, USB-based peripherals, keyboards, and mice all in the name of patching a security hole Sony claimed was related to jailbreaking PS3s? Yeah.

If it doesn't support this peripheral, Kingdom Hearts 3 will be a total failure.
