Reminder: Starcraft 2 Guest Pass Giveaway Contest

Don't forget to participate in our contest for one of two Starcraft 2 guest passes. You have until this Friday to enter!

Blizzard only took their sweet time -- more than a decade has passed since the original Starcraft -- yet you still forgot to preorder. And your local game store sold the last copy to some other lucky bastard just as you walked in the door.

What are you to do?

Well, Bitmob has you covered. I've got two guest passes worth seven full hours (good for 14 days after activation) of head-to-head Terran, Zerg, and Protoss slaughter on offer.

To win one of them, you only need to do the following:

  1. Leave a comment about why you deserve to play Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty. Be creative!
  2. Submit your comment by Friday, August 6.
  3. Up vote two comments (other than your own!) that you think are the most interesting, thought-provoking, or amusing.
  4. Submit your votes before Monday, August 9 at 6 a.m. PST.

That's right -- you (the community) will decide who wins the guest passes! Since we're all adults here, we'll make use of the honor system. I trust that everyone will play fairly.

Only up vote comments -- don't down vote. You can wait as long as you'd like before voting, but be sure to select two comments before the end of the contest on the morning of August 9. If you enter a comment into the contest, you must vote! And if you don't want to enter the contest, you can still up vote two (and only two) comments from participants.

Once the contest is over, the two comments with the most votes will win the guest passes. In the event of a tie, I'll randomly select the winners. I'll announce them on Wednesday, August 12.

Starcraft 2 is for Mac and PC only. If you're unsure whether your computer can run the game, you can check the system requirements here. Blizzard also requires you to create a Battle.net account.

I deserve it! But if not chosen, we all could play these amazing five RTS games that are not starcraft. http://www.bitmob.com/articles/five-amazing-real-time-strategy-games-while-waiting-for-starcraft-2-reviews

I don't actually have a gaming PC of mine own; however, if I were to win the code then I would have a reason to go over to my friend's house and mooch off of him (Something I have not done in a very long time. We both miss the time spent together while mooching).

I also promise to record my frustrations with the game if I win (I promise I will be frustrated since I am none too good with RTSs). Also, if Bitmob let me enjoy this code than I will totally owe you guys one and have a contest for a really crappy game some time soon. Eh? Eh? How about it?

Vote for me!!!... Pretty pretty please with ice cream, cherries, and the bodies of the Zerg on top!

Starcraft is in my top ten most favorite games. It's in my top five of those top ten and it's in my top one of those top five (if that makes any sense).  I've been playing Blizzards games ever since I could operate a computer. I played Orcs and Humans when it released, Tides of Darkness and its expansion when those were released and Starcraft when it was released. I'm 21.

I've been following and playing Starcraft on and off since its release. At one time a friend and I were considering modifying our keyboards, trying to go pro, and changing year zero to 1998, when Starcraft was first released. Whenever I do a fresh install of Windows, Starcraft is the first program I install. I've organized LAN parties with friends where all we'll play is Broodwar. My ringtones are chocked full of audio clips from different units from the Starcraft universe. I can't express how jealous I was when James Mielke (sp?) came back from Korea with all that merch in that episode of the 1up show. I got into the beta, but didn't have a computer that could handle it (now I do!).

This is the most anticipated game I've ever waited for. I have the computer now, which sucked my funds and my chance of playing this masterpiece. You can help change that with a single click. Thanks!

p.s. Enter your comments so I can vote for you! I'm going to be afk all weekend!

Because I only now have a PC capable of running games and I'd love to put it to use staying somewhat current on things. I haven't played an RTS since the first Starcraft and the copy of Age of Empires that came with the computer my parents bought. It'd be nice to be able to get a taste of it -- even if I get destroyed in multiplayer -- without having to spend the money on a game that I'm not sure I'll like since it has been so long since I played the genre.

@Rob We should've made the contest "Help Us to Get Jason to Finally Like Starcraft!"

Oh! That's a good one! Soon, Jason. Soon. You can only resist Starcaft's allure for so long.

I'd love to get a guest pass, even though I have already bought and am loving my copy of Starcraft 2.

The reason I want a guest pass is because where I live, people almost always pirate games, even if they love to play them, simply because they are too cheap to actually buy the stuff they play. Problem for them is, usually pirated versions of games are less enjoyable than the real versions, and this is especially true for Starcraft 2. I checked most of the popular torrent sites, and it seems that even if I could persuade my friends to play Starcraft 2, none of whom are strategy gamers, they would pirate the game and only be able to play skirmish matches, since the offline campaign and the challenges, as well as the tutorials, are all tied to Battle.net.

I want my friends to experience the real deal, why I want them to buy this game, without them paying for trying out the newbie-friendly stuff. And since I have more than 2 friends, 2 guest passes aren't enough at all, so I'll take all the guest passes I can get!

Every time a sequel gets released, I'm the guy that goes "screw that I'm going to play the older one and get the exact same game"

Some times this works perfectly (Crackdown) unfortunately with Starcraft it's a really old game (1998!), so I go online forgetting that the only community that would be playing are the cult players who play every day. I join a match labeled "N00Bs OnlY 1v1"  as I'm playing (casually making buildings and whatnot) my opponent makes a base right next to me and destroys my base. Me being the n00b I am, I run to another crystal mine and rebuild my hacher and start over. He eventually finds me and the cycle repeats itself.

It goes with out saying that I lost. I want the guest pass so i can play several online games with people who are just as new to the game as I am and maybe justify spending the obscene amount of money that new australian games cost.

I'm 20 years old and I'm a full time college student and a full time worker at a local deli.

I moved out from my parents' house only a few weeks ago and I am now living on my own for the first time in my life. Money is very tight since I need to pay for rent, insurance, school books and supplies, phone bill, food, ect. Considering my tight situation, I understand that some things must be cut out of my finances. In this case, unfortunately, it's Starcraft 2.

The original Starcraft has always been my favorite game ever since I my mom bought it for me in 5th grade. I have great memories of playing against friends online, or if I was lucky enough I could play my friends on Starcraft 64 if they had a copy. It was a bonding experience, because Starcraft created a uniquely competitive environment which boggled our childhood minds.

As I grew older, my younger brother became old enough to truely enjoy an RTS such as Starcraft. He, much like myself, was instantly hooked. As his big brother, I'd coach him in the campaign mode to ready him for the challenges on online mode.

For Christmas, he'd ask for Starcraft novels.

When I got a job, my coworkers and I would sometimes go to a local gaming cafe and play Starcraft all night after a hard day's work. We'd joke and curse and holler and swear, but it was all in good fun. Some of them knew Starcraft almost as well as I did, others could barely get their SCV to the minerals. In the end though, we all enjoyed the distraction from our monotonious work lives.

Like I said, several weeks ago I moved out from my parents' house in order to go to persue my dreams in college. Life is hitting me hard, but it's nothing I can't handle. However, I never would have guessed back in 2007 when Starcraft 2 was announced that at the time of release I wouldn't have the nessarry funds to grab myself a copy. The original Starcraft wasn't just a game, it was part of growing up. Since my morals won't allow me to do so, I will not be pirating Starcraft 2. This guest pass, however, would be an excellent way to experience the sequel to the game I grew up with, and I'm sure it'd help me hold over until I can get the funds to purchase my own copy.

I'll be looking forward to that seven hours of awesome gameplay.

Okay okay okay.
I absolutely...POSITIVELY   ,ERGONOMICALLY ? ? ! NEED THIS STARCRAFT II KEY FOR A COUPLE OF LIFE CHANGING REAONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AS WELL IF I DO NOT GET IT, I WILL FOLLOW THROUGH WITH MY RANSOM, THAT IS POSTING PICTURES OF "SHOE" IN THE TOTAL NUDE AND PLAYING JENGA WITH A GROUP OF WILD BOJANGALING MONKEY BUTTS.

Okay, so in a nut shell, I am a tottalllyyy hott, sexxxy, gaming babe who has a rack of a morbidly sized orangutan.
Allow me to tell you a little bit about my self, I'm 5ft 4 , 115lbs, 34D , blonde hair and blue eye's.
I enjoy long walks on the beach, Starcraft, being poor and not being able to "test" SC2 on my PC so I have no idea if it work's and if I buy it and it doesn't work, I'm out $60 and I won't be able to feed my family of 19 for that week, so I need to make sure it's a valuable purchase, so I can be happy but my family of 19 will still not eat, but it's okay, I'll still get to play Starcraft 2.
I am a total babe, some would say a total babe-a-tron in the nerd world, or a babeanator. I use LINUX as my main system but I also have a Windows 7 computer as well, it's the bee's knees.

No but really, I'm poor as shit, I have a computer that's a couple month's old and has a decent integrated graphics card on it and I really want to try out Starcraft 2, to make sure my computer can at least respectably  play this game, here me out first.

I haven't played Starcraft in a while, I recently uploaded the first one onto my computer and started to get back into it, I've been watching videos non-stop of it and reviews and spent countless hours looking into information about running it on my PC, I was sent a beta test invite but my friend ended up STEALING it as I had left my e-mail account information saved on his PC, he didn't tell me until I complained for almost a day straight that I had been sent a beta test key and how excited I was to try it out and how it didn't work and it was saying it was used, after almost a week he then dropped the bomb on me, after the beta as up.
TOTAL LET DOWN!
Then as par of my string of bad luck, I get a bill from the IRS stating I owe over 5k in back taxes, I do not know why in the beggining of August they decided to do this, but it sucks.
Bottom line, my job sucks, bills suck, my life sucks, my wife hates videogames and all I want to do is put on my headphones, sit back and relax and enjoy some starcraft 2 for a few day's and phase out all the annoying things in life, I'm 25, married and in debt up to my eyeballs and all I do is work.
I get paid next week, and would really be happy if something went right in my life and someone hooked me up with a guest pass after I've been screwed out of the beta and screwed out of life, this way I can find out of I like it and if it really work's on my computer and not what some lame site say's for the "requirements" worst comes to worst, if the game run's like crap on my computer, which I doubt it, I'll just give it to another friend who would put it to good use and let him hold down my battle.net account for a few day's and make him happy.
Help me out bit mob, and give this man some peace and mind!!!
VOTE FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (p.s. if you vote for me, there will be some cake at the end, no really...I promise)
