Siskel and Ebert Give It Two Fists Up

Film critics Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert were revolutionaries. They were embarrassing themselves playing video games long before the Wii:

I remember playing something similar in an arcade once. I had about as much fun as it looks like they did. Hopefully, Project Natal will erase my memories of lousy motion-recognition games. Hopefully.

This is kinda sad. Siskel says at the end that "This verbal sparring will continue for years." He died six years later. BTW, Roger Ebert is the only film critic to win a Pulitzer Prize.

Ok this is the friggin motion sensor peripheral I had been mentioning in all those articles about the next gen motion sensor controls, just couldn't think of the name. That thing was cheesy as hell and made you look sillier than using the wii remote or eye toy.Still,it was one of the first steps into motion control gaming.

Mike, we rented one of those, remember? The Activtor. I think we played Eternal Champions with it. We weren't sad to take it back to Blockbuster.

Awesome.

I bit unrelated, but I came across this article about Ebert now. I almost made me cry.

Sorry my cat jumped on my lap. "A" bit and "It" almost.

@Brendon I loved that piece. The main art is fantastic, and I actually felt good for Ebert. His voice is stronger now than ever before, even if he lost his actual voice. I love that he's discovered the power in blogging. I wish more people used blogs in an empowering manner. He seems at peace with the world; I wish I could say the same for me.

@Jason - yeah it was beautifully done. I was shocked at the first picture because I hadn't seen him since the last time he was on television. The most touching aspect of the article is how well it captures a great mind going through hell with incredible grace.

This is amazing. But Siskel said at the beginning that they played a video game every year?! MIKE! You need to find more of these videos!
