Yeah, we know it's a small hassle to post stories on Bitmob -- the MyBlog editor takes way too long to load. You want to know why? It's because you've actually helped us outgrow it. The software wasn't designed to handle this volume of content from our community, with all the stored data (like thousands and thousands of tags) that it's trying to access and load.
So we suppose that's a bit of silver lining -- better that we're maxing out our website rather than barely waking it up each morning. But what about you guys who are trying to post stories to the Mobfeed? Well, good news is on the way.
Instead of spending our limited resources working on fixing a system that really doesn't want to be fixed (believe us, we tried), we're creating a new one from scratch (hence, our need for some Ruby on Rails help). While this means it's going to take us a few weeks to get caught up to a basic site again, that new basic site should be a lot better than the one you're using now.
Even better, our new infrastructure will allow us to build super secret future-awesome Bitmob much, much faster than we could have otherwise.
So we ask that you be patient with us -- remember, we're just a few guys volunteeering our own time and money for this project. Go ahead and take a bathroom break or play a quick round of Peggle while you wait for our current blog editor to load; we're working on big changes and hope to bring them to you soon.
Thank you.
P.S. One quick housekeeping note: We've made it pretty clear that users are not to use Bitmob as a promotional tool, whether it's to advertise for a game, website, podcast...whatever.
If your post is legitimate standalone content that requires a link to somewhere else (for example, a "this was also published at blahblahblah.com" type of note), we just ask that you to put that at the very end of your article. While we are happy to let you give credit where credit is due, we hope you understand that we have to make sure Bitmob is home to great, original stories...not opportunities to promote non-Bitmob stuff.
