What we have here appears to be a new Devil May Cry game, starring some young-lookin' kid named Dante who kills marionettes with two guns and a sword.  He also kicks stuff in mid-air and makes ridiculous jumps.  And he's a stylish mofo.

Huh.  Wait.  Young-lookin' kid?

What we ACTUALLY have here is a complete unknown.  Capcom's turning the developmental reins over to Ninja Theory, known for Heavenly Sword (pretty flashy!)... wait wait wait.

Alright.  Let's recompile.  We have a Japanese-based IP, with four games in its established line, being developed by a company based in England for a western market audience.

Mindtrip!  And we thought Dante was too COOL to need a reboot.  Ignoring the fact that the main protagonist has gone through drastic changes in every installment, SURE, why not?  White kid, mental problems, thinks he can see dolls moving, performs lewd actions and atrocities against mannequins.  Basket-case.  Alright.

Did the fourth DMC game do THAT poorly?  I suppose this brings something to our attention, though..  Capcom knows we have money, lots of dirty money and that we want desperately to spend it on video games.  Cool!  Now, the only way to get us to BUY those games is ...if we don't really know they're from Japan?  So we squish the faces a bit, throw in some psychological thriller-element and make him YOUNGER.  Cuz who wants to shoot up demons as an old geezer?  Nobody.  And those guns from all the other games, Ebony and Ivory, they fired too many bullets at once.  Let's make them look ...wait, wait, I got this.  Western... western audience, WESTERN, OLD WEST, Spaghetti Westerns, OLD WEST GUNS!  And those can only fire like, once every 1.3 seconds.  So those bullets had better glow.

Sword?  Just a sword?  Feh.  Make it a SOUL REAPER.

WAIT, no no NO, WHO put the soul reaper in the video?  FIRE THEM.  NOW!

Sarcasm aside, honestly, I'm excited to see what's on the horizon with DmC.  This is, to the best of my knowledge, the first serious attempt to take an Eastern-based series (as flamboyantly eastern as DMC is) and have a continuation/reboot developed SPECIFICALLY with a western market in mind (I say serious because I do not count Dragonball Z Evolution and Street Fighter: The Movie as serious; far from it, actually) and I think it would be an understatement at the very LEAST to say that the world will be watching this development very closely.  If Capcom has found a way to make some serious profits with a decidedly eastern-flavored series, you can be sure there will be more to follow.  Such as, say, Tales of the Bronx, with a soundtrack featuring Sean Combs and Ice-T.

You know what?  Namco/Bandai, get on that.  I want it, want it, need it now.
