Yes we are going to talk about this as I enjoy Pro-Football to an extent.  Now some of you may move on, but I think this is worth talking about.  So remember if you don't discuss then you can't complain to me why I am wrong.

Fantasy Leagues have become like a game it self on the PC.  You have one basically for all major sports to my knowledge.  Some you have to keep track of more then others, but still fun to play.  Now I know for a fact XBLA has something of a fantasy draft they support or at least they did last yea for pro-football.

So can a simulated fantasy league that plays on real live stats be called a video game?  Lets see it has on-line multi-player.  You can have a conversation in a party text chat system.  With the options to drop or add players, Move players around and such makes me think of this as a video game.
Do you think fantasy Leagues are video games and if not what do you think they are?

I have never participated in a fantasy league but whenever the subject comes up, I remember a line from a comedian whose name I can't remember.

Fantasy Leagues are the Dungeons and Dragons for people who made fun of the kids who played Dungeons and Dragons.

This is a really good question Toby. I used to be a part of a NHL fantasy league, the biggest headache with it was a lack of people to play with and that the people we did play with cheated a bit.
Having Fantasy Leagues online solves both of these problems.

But are they video games? Only as much as Monopoly can be a video game, or solitaire.

They are really fun though!

I am currently part of a Premier League fantasy football(soccer to you americans;)) league and I know that Aceybongos, who is a Community Mangaer with microsoft in the UK has his own league set up for it,so I guess they kinda support it.

I dont think they are videogames per se,more like something like monopoly as Lance said.

Yeah, I don't consider them videogames. Fun distractions, but not videogames.

I'm watching my team get spanked on the first Sunday of the NFL season. I've been playing fantasy football for years, and it's very reminiscent of a football-manager sim. If you consider those to be games, then fantasy football is right in its league.

My dilemma this morning: Take a flyer on the Saints' Lance Moore or leave a beat-up Brian Westbook in my lineup as the flex. The damn system locked me in before I made a decision. But the decisions you face -- trends, matchups, injuries, and $ if you play in a league based on team budgets -- are similar to the challenges that you face in football management sims.

I'm getting creamed, but most of my team plays in the late games, while my opponents has most of his guys playing now.
