(Discussion Topic) Small Sites VS Big Company Sites

Yes I am going to go here today.  It just seems to stand out more and more every day to me.  Now I may get personal with this due to the fact it has happened to me many times doing my other hobbies out side of Bitmob.

Small sites are new and under developed and don't get seen as much by a wide spread user group.  How ever with that though it is more prown to sway towards a certain focal point (Developer/publisher) if they get consumed by uncharted territory.  What I can't see is sometimes why the Small sites can't get an exclusive over the Major sites.
Big Companies I think are to politically involved and there is always someone playing favortism some where.  If you think about it certain magazines in order to keep from getting black list wont even low ball My little Pony games.  As I go there we all see it and well I think is un sightly that these places still get the exclusives.
In saying all this I just hope that Publishers/Developers & PR firms will help the small guy out just once.  I think if they did this maybe some other talented writers could be seen.
So do you think Smaller sites should get an exclusive every once in awhile or should the Big Company sites still get all the exclusives?  And why?

It's ultimately up to the people responsible for PR for the games as to what they go for. They are almost always going to go for sites that have higher visibility and are more certain to give them a good review. I personally would like to see game makers and publishers take their games seriously enough to stand on some sort of moral ground with the practices they do to get a game sold.

'Good enough' game reviewing fosters 'good enough' game design and vice versa. Game makers shouldn't be making games they are afraid to market fairly to begin with.

it would be great for small firms to get exclusives, but the relatively obscure name may lesson the "sparkle" on an exclusive title. I guess it's like using a movie star to advertise your things, the public will take notice if they know who is "wearing" what.

There has been a dramatic rise of the words "sparkle" and "sparkles" on Bitmob. I don't like it.

This is why Cosmo should pick a indy game for the Bitmob Game Club!!!

I hope that when peoples' tastes for smaller, more old school games grow, so will the amount of small teams working on old-school style games. I am so more interested in a small team making a game then a big company.

This is a question for the editors of Bitmob.

Sort of off topic but do you guys have a plan to change the layout of Bitmob? I'm just thinking about as Bitmob grows, more and more articles will be published. It will get to a point that if you don't check Bitmob every 30 mins, a lot of articles will get buried.

I forgot to check Bitmob for 2 days and missed a bunch of articles, any way of addressing this eventual reality?

@David - You have to do what I do: I am usually one page of the mini-mobfeed behind, and I just try and keep up. Some days there are few new posts, but some other days there can be 20. That is why it is useful to just skip a few pages back to where you left off, and try to catch up! ;D

@Lance-That is a clever solution FOR NOW. However if Bitmob keeps growing, something has to be done. I'll try your method though.

I think it would do Bitmob some good to have a redesign. Mobfeed creep definately effects article visability. I am wondering if they have any plans for more ways to keep track of specific posters. Like maybe subscribing to certain people's posts for your own little mini feed. Could be nice but it's just more work for the site's coding. I tried to do a class on web page design and creation once and my head nearly exploded. I just don't have the patience.

@Jeffrey You can click an author's name to see all of his stories. Does that help?

@Jason I think what he is saying is when one of his favorite authors write something he would like an e-mail letting him know.
