Earlier today, Joystiq via Eurogamer, quoted EA Sports head-honcho Peter Moore, "as disappointing." To the faithful bitmob readers, the poor sales of EA's golf game, is not surprising. It was reported, here, that EA Sports shareholders lost during the immediate aftermath of Tiger's alleged affairs and domestic violence on the Thanksgiving Holiday (Tiger and Erin Woods would later divorce). Moore would later tell Eurogamer that is a consumer choice on whether to buy Tiger (duh!), but reiterated they are standing by their man. But there is another scandal looming on the cover boy of another EA Sports title, Wayne Rooney of Mancherster United (FIFA 11).

If you are not privy to the story, Wayne Rooney, player of the English Footbal national team and star forward of the Manchester United Red Devils has caught himself in a sticky situation. The accusations come from a 21 year old age prostitute, Jennifer Thompson, who broke the story on national newspaper, claiming she had relations with the star while his wife was pregnant. Daily Mail has the rundown of the story, including the titalating pictures of the said prostitute. The drama has hit an all time high with Man U, as Rooney was not included on the first team this past weekend, when the Red Devils played Rooney's former team, Everton. Adding to the turmoil, was the poor performance at Ole Trafford, Man U's home field, as they played to a draw to the Scottish side, Glasgow Rangers.

With FIFA 11's release date fast approaching, October 1st in Europe, should EA Sports and Peter Moore reconsider having Wayne Rooney share the cover with Brazilian and Real Madrid (and stout Christian) Kaka? Or will football fans, continue to give Rooney the stick, but not associate FIFA 11 with his disgressions? Will Alex Martin comment below? Only time will tell.

Sports stars should've learned to pay hush money by now.

I'm not buying another FIFA until my other team (Cardiff City) get to the Premiership, but this sort of thing wouldn't be enough to stop me buying a game. Adultery usually involves lying to someone,  but it's not wrong on the same level as, say, Shadow Complex's close connection to a massive homophobe. Now if Paulo di Canio or Gianluigi Buffon were on the box, I'd have to think about getting PES instead.

(Di Canio gave a Nazi salute at a match one time, and Buffon wanted his squad number to be 88 -- code for Heil Hitler, H being the 8th letter of the alphabet. Buffon's might've been a misunderstanding though. He said it was because the number 8 has all the balls, and you need to hold the balls to be a goalkeeper.)

I really like to hear more opinions from Europeans, like Alex, since Rooney is only featured in Europe. Americans response to Tiger's scandal may be very different from how the UK responds to Wayne's.
