We announced a while back that we're partnering up with gaming mags EGM and GamePro in different capacities, and since then...well, we haven't been doing a very good job of updating you guys, have we? Especially on the GamePro front, since two community members have already appeared in print there.
But before we discuss that, I know you guys need an update with regards to our EGM announcement, because when I was at WonderCon this past weekend, here's how most conversations went with fans that I ran into:
"Hi, are you 'Shoe'?"
"Yes, hi. It's nice to meet you!"
"Nice to meet you, too. I'm a big fan of Bitmob's. When is EGM coming out?"
So here are some quick updates for you:
-
The preview edition of EGMi, the weekly digital magazine, is out now. This one is a sensory-overload version of the lost issue of EGM that never got released before the mag was shut down a while back. It has some old articles, some new ones, and a few "second impression" reviews from the Bitmob staff.
We don't want to say when the regular issues will start coming out, though, because it seems to be a moving target at this point.

As far as print and the full egmnow.com website go, the first physical issue is supposed to be out sometime in April, and we hear the online site should be launching in June. Sorry we can't give you more specifics, but yeah...that "moving target" thing.
You should see some Bitmob-created articles in this thing, including a piece on Metacritic, digital-rights management, retro gaming, a column by me, and maybe a second-impressions review.
When EGM is fully up and running on all fronts, Bitmob should mainly be delivering news for them on a daily and weekly basis.
Now, onto GamePro. As Editor-in-Chief John Davison announced, each month, they will feature one article from the Bitmob community in print, and that's happened two times already (like we said...we're doing pretty poorly with keeping everyone updated).
Below are the last two covers of GamePro, as well as who was featured in it. Moving forward, we'll be updating Bitmob readers more regularly to help remind everyone that this opportunity is always open (until further notice). All you have to do is write something cool and interesting, and GamePro may pick it up for a lot more people to see!
Mike Gingras' Musings of a Gamer: Are Religion and Gaming Mortal Enemies? appeared in the April 2010 issue of GamePro.
Andrew Hiscock, who is now our community manager, wrote Dudebro II: The Birth of a Meme and How NeoGAF Began Its First Video Game, which appeared in the May 2010 edition of GamePro.
Congrats to all our Bitmob members who got to see their work in print!
