Frozen Crossing: Modern Warfare 2 Fan Film

Ever since Half-Life fanboys the Purchase Brothers released Escape from City 17, the flood gates have opened. Lending further proof to the idea that any kid with a camera and an idea can become the next Neill Blomkamp, low budget, fan-made films have been cropping up online at an alarming pace.

People will inevitably consider some of these films to be fan tributes, but Frozen Crossing -- based on Modern Warfare 2 -- represents a dim hope for a franchise whose future is so unclear. Filmed by a Seattle-based crew for only $210, this newly launched series tells the tale of Specter and Dust, two members of Task Force 141, who are en route to save their colleague, Anja Aleskari.

While the acting doesn't merit an Academy Award, the effort is sincere and the result is impressive. I consider myself a long time fan of the Call of Duty franchise, but like many of you, I'm worried about the direction the series is taking. Will developer Infinity Ward bounce back and deliver yet another successful game, or is Frozen Crossing the last good thing which will ever be associated with Modern Warfare?

Crappy costume design and the weapons looked like fisher price toys, but everything else surprised me.

I thought the weapons looked pretty damn good for a fan made film. But then again, I'm not a exactly a gun expert. This video was more awesome than I expected.
