How Not To Be A Noob at Battlefield: Bad Company 2!

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is nothing like Modern Warfare 2. Please do not confuse the two.

Bad Company 2 requires snipers to account for gravity, tank operators to signal for support, and medics to provide constant medical oversight. While I won't proclaim BC2 to be a better game by any means, it seems far more complicated than MW2.

Yet despite the world of difference between these first-person shooters, trigger-happy imbeciles seem to populate most Bad Company 2 servers. Instead of employing the calculated tactics which developer Digital Illusions espouses, most players adopt the twitchy, schizophrenic mentality that Modern Warfare 2 seems to reward.

In that vein, Pixel Enemy produced a comprehensive tutorial on "how not to be a noob at Battlefield: Bad Company 2." Trust me, it's really useful.

If you plan on downloading the beta or if you intend on purchasing the game after its release, do us all a favor and watch the following video! Consider it community service.

To be fair, Modern Warfare 2 is far more noob-friendly than Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which is why I detest it.

This is an amazing video that every single action junkie who buys Battlefield 2 expecting Modern Warfare 2 should watch. I am sick and tired of playing games where my entire team thinks the object is to simply get as many kills and they can. I just want to strangle them.

Even worse is when you try and talk to them and put together some kind of plan, they instantly get a stick up their ass and begin calling you every name in the book for attempting to....you know, play the game correctly.

Man that was good. I hope a lot of 'noobs' watch the video, but I doubt they will.
Can we please have a BitMob night where we all play this game?

I'm so glad they put out a demo for this. I almost got six people to buy this game based on my ethical appeal alone. Having a demo to try saved us a lot of money.

I've been enjoying the PC Beta, and I saw some new things in this video. One personal tip I try to follow: If your squad is all dead and you are the only one alive in enemy territory, hide behind cover so your teammates can spawn on you. Unless that cover is blown up, then you may be screwed.

That is all really helpful... but it doesn't change the fact that the game doesn't feel good to play. The graphics as good as they look in stills, cause everything to blend into one another, and no weapon really just kills people.

Why force me to press the back button? That is absurd. Why not just have it automatically "spot" people when I'm hovering over them with my sight. I'm already staring at them... I've already spotted them... why press another button?

The demo is so frustrating.

I also like how when MW2 plays with the laws of physics it is false and stupid, but when BC2 doesn't allow you to crouch it is a video game and should be fun.

I have no problem with people preferring one game over another, but there is just so much backlash to MW2 in the word-of-mouth for BC2, that it makes me feel that BC2 is just for people who suck at MW2.

This video really hit the spot. I'm a battlefield veteran since battlefield 2 was released. I've been playing the demo since it was released and I'm almost always at the top of the score-chart at the end of the round. It's not because I'm a good player, it's because I play the game the way it's meant to be played. I spot enemies all the time, especially when I'm playing the recon class.

I seriously don't get why some players think it's good to go head on towards a squad of enemies as the recon class or why people playing assault don't drop ammo.

The funny thing is that when you actually find someone who knows what they're doing you become unstoppable. A engineer repairing your tank constantly makes a huge difference.

Is there a reason why the narrator has to sound like a condescending douche? Who thinks that's entertaining?

I really enjoyed this video. I haven't gotten into a multiplayer shooter since Counter Strike and have loved this game. I just really wish people would spot enemies and spawn on squads. I hope this man's advice is taken, regradless of his tone.

Damn, I did good in the demo before but as soon as I watched this video and played a match I was able to place first in our winning team of defenders as a medic. Thanks for the post, man!;D

The first Bad Company is really the only game I've put much time into on Xbox Live. I didn't know anyone that played though so once I hit the top rank I just stopped playing. The squads annoyed me because you had no control over them and couldn't choose to go solo. While solo probably seems like it wouldn't help the team, I often found people like to shoot at nothing and give away their position. Nothing hurts more than spending a few minutes sneaking around the enemy only to have some fool spawn on you with guns blazing :(

I also played a lot of BF2 on PC. The spotting of enemies is a great ability, though I'm wondering how easy the back button is to reach when you're playing. I can't recall ever using that button much in an action game. Although I eventually became a full time medic in BF2, I'll admit there are times when I just sit back and snipe even if it isn't all that helpful. Fortunately I got to be rather good at picking off enemies without relying on sniper rifles. I usually go single shot on every weapon if it is allowed, I prefer the accuracy over bursts.

I'll probably play Bad Company 2 a fair amount like the first one, unfortunately I will be way behind most players I think. I generally don't play demos and I'll be out of town for a couple weeks in March. Plus I have to finish the single player game first, not sure why but I typically prefer to do that before touching multi-player.
