My Metroid Memories

I heard it was Metroid's anniversary, so I thought I'd put my memories of the series on here.

I remember renting Metroid from a store in Baltimore called West Coast Video. It was in their generic case with no instructions. I remember playing for a bit and having fun doing spins in the air, until I got to a locked door. No matter how many times I shot it, it wouldn't open. So I got the brilliant idea to put the leg of a chair on the fire button, and walk away thinking eventually I'd have shot it enough times for it to open. NOPE! I don't believe I finished it, but I don't have any negative thoughts on it.

Metroid II- All I remember of this is sitting on the toilet at my grandparent's house with my Gameboy and not getting very far. All the save slots were taken up by someone else, and I didn't want to erase anything.

Metroid Prime- This was the apex of my love for the series. I enjoyed the first person camera and the beautiful graphics. Details such as catching a glimpse of Samus' reflection in the visor, or seeing some water condensate on the screen were so new and cool for me. The final boss was grueling and rewarding and I beat the game in a weekend during summer vacation. I never found all the missile containers, but I sure tried.

I bought Corruption back when I still had a Wii. I had fun with it and didn't mind the motion controls. I was compelled to finish it, but have never felt the need to go back and play it again.

I think of myself as a fan, even though I've missed alot of the games. Maybe one day I could go back and fill the gaps in.
