Remember that contest I told you about back in January that you didn't enter? That could have been you posing for pictures with a giant novelty check!
News Blips:
An Alabama man won $1,000,000 from 2K Sports for pitching a perfect game in Major League Baseball 2K10. The company held a contest between March 2 and May 1 in search of the first person who could best the new pitching mechanics in their latest title. Wade McGilberry, 23, successfully pitched a rare perfect game on, get this, the first day of the competition. I sure hope that 2K Sports accounted for this in their budget, since a post-dated million-dollar novelty check would be kind of ridiculous. [Boston Herald]
The developers of the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed series initially (unsuccessfully) pitched the idea of a Wookiee "super hero" game to Star Wars creator George Lucas. In an interview that's to appear in the June 2010 issue of GamePro, developers Haden Blackman and Julio Torres of LucasArts look back on 2005 when they had to create a new Star Wars franchise and thought of Wookiee game similar to The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction. They claim that George Lucas said he wanted a game that emphasized characters and dialog, so a game "where the main character can't talk" wouldn't cut it. What about all those noises that Chewbacca makes, is that not talking? [1UP]
Blizzard plans to integrate Facebook into its Battle.net service for streamlining the friend-list-creation process. Essentially, the developer hopes that Starcraft 2 players who are friends on the social networking site will be able to easily add each other as friends on their matchmaking platform Battle.net. Is Facebook popular in South Korea? I feel like it's going to be.
A majority (86 percent) of game developers surveyed are at least "somewhat satisfied" with their careers. Game Developer Research recently polled 2,623 game developers and found that 88 percent of them agreed that, "The game industry is still a great industry to work in." As far as opportunity goes, the developers were much less optimistic with 80 percent agreeing that fewer jobs exist in the industry in 2009 than previous years. Yeah, as fun as a job making games looks, maybe it's not the best time to try and jump into the industry.

In MLB 2K10 the guy pitched a perfect game which is different than a no-hitter. I never attempted to pitch the perfect game which is good since I didn't play the game until a few days after release.
