Perhaps Vince Zampella and Jason West were fired because they were against charging $15 for the Modern Warfare 2 map pack.
News Blips:
Former heads of Infinity Ward, Vince Zampella and Jason West, sign with Creative Artists Agency. The Los Angeles Times reports that "at least one of the other top Hollywood agencies was looking to sign" them as well. As to what why the duo chose to join the talent agency is anyone's guess as a representative for the CAA would not comment on specifics. Maybe Zampella and West plan to make a dramatic movie about their trials making Modern Warfare 2 and subsequent clash with the bosses of Activision.
Speaking to Xbox Live's Major Nelson on his podcast, Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling said that the Stimulus map pack for Modern Warfare 2 is set to cost 1,200 Microsoft Points ($15). Bowling detailed that the pack consists of five maps, three of which are new while the other two are tweaked Call of Duty 4 levels. To think, after three more map packs, you will have paid them enough money for a sequel, except it'll still be the same game! [1UP]
In a recent Blizzard developer chat on Twitter, the company revealed that they're planning to release a Mac version of the Starcraft 2 beta sometime in April. Elsewhere in the Q&A, Blizzard said that they "have no plans to make an open Beta at this time," so Starcraft fans with Macs might be out of luck if they didn't register for the Beta way back. You can certainly count me as part of that group. [Battle.net Forums]
Alan Wake developer Remedy Entertainment wants to do a large "season 2" for their upcoming psychological-thriller game in the form of downloadable episodes. They plan to release at least two chapters in 2010 and possibly more later, depending on audience reception. I think that most consumers would be OK with this method -- as long as each download doesn't cost $15. [Joystiq]
