The Gift of Gaming

This the season that many will be given the gift of games. No matter what holiday you celebrate the true constant is that we all play games and enjoy it on one degree or another. Even with big backlogs that came from early September people are still trying to get in matches of Call of Duty: Black ops to late night sessions of Halo: Reach.

Being a parent I get the honor of picking out the games I buy myself for Christmas like Marvel Super Hero Squad: Infinity Gauntlet for the PS3 that came out back in November of this year. Sure I could have picked up something that people heard of like the new telltale Back to the Future game on PC which episode 1 is playable on December 22nd. Maybe any other title, but the comic geek in me won.

Besides gifting to my self I have gifted two other games this holiday season. Since neither one of them read this blog I can talk about it and spoil it for you all on what I got them. The first would be my Uncle Bobby and Aunt Terri that live up in Connecticut which I haven't seen in a good while. They love PopCap games and recent my Aunt has been addicted to the facebook game of bejeweled. Thinking to myself and asking the wife we shipped them Bejeweled 3 for the PC to hopefully help get them away from facebook gaming and back to more normal PC gaming. Hope this will remind them on how much they love there other games like Zuma and Bookworm Adventures as well.

The other game I am gifting is to my 6 yr old daughter. When I can break her away from playing Call of Duty: Black Ops, Fable 3 or Little Big Planet she is always drawing. She is very creative in my book, but than again it is a father's love to enjoy what there child does. To help with art I decided it was time for us to get her UDraw this Christmas since Little Big Planet 2 was delayed. With watching many Youtube videos in action and hear nothing, but good things it had to be hers. I see many saved drawings in the wii's future. I am excited with the amount of creativity and tools they are giving the person who is drawing. As I know she will figure them all out and teaching me how to use it as well.

So what games or game are you gifting to others. Also do you know a game you are being gifted an should not know about it? I hope that everyone has a great gaming holiday season as well.

I've gifted a couple games on Steam, but that's pretty much it. Nice to see a post from you, Toby!

Everytime I buy my wife a video game for christmas or a birthday she gets mad, but I always put a lot of thought into finding one she would like and she usually ends up playing it a ton. I haven't bought anyone any games this year but I'm sure I'll get a couple.

I tried buying a game for my cousin this year. He and his roomate like to play co-op shooters. Easy enough to find, right? Unfortunately, they play on PS3 exclusively. I went to Co-Optimus for help, but there are a painfully small amount of games that fit that category.

I ended up getting him Army of Two: the 40th Day. I know he's played the first one, so hoping all goes well.
