The Hype Train: E3 Edition

I'd like to make my comeback to Bitmob in list form. Why? Because I know the internet loves lists, and so do I. And I was thinking to myself "Jake, what'd make a good list?" Then I realized I'm the kind of person who watches a CG trailer or a bit of gameplay from some upcoming game and will get immediately hooked, searching for any sort of media I can find. In other words, I get hyped. Which leads us to my next series of articles: a collection of upcoming games that have me boarding the hype-train.

And what better event contains hype than E3?

Let's proceed my top five Hype's of E3.

5. Rock Band 3

     Q4 - 2010

Oh, man. I so called this! I had repeatedly told many of my friends that the only logical thing to add to Rock Band was the piano. And when I heard about it, I got super excited. I now await the onslaught of Queen, Billy Joel, and Elton John the game has to offer.

4. Twisted Metal

     TBA

I love car combat games. And I feel that the Twisted Metal games are the best among the genre. And this feels like a triumphant return. Watching the gameplay for this game got me incredibly excited. Hopefully, this game gets the attention it needs, boosting the market for these type of ultra-violent, insane car combat games.

3. Metal Gear Solid: Rising

   TBA

I was actually very not interested in this game for a very long time. I'm not a Metal Gear Solid fan, though I've tried to play and like the previous games. It wasn't until I was watching the G4 E3 coverage with some friends that we saw the first trailer for this specific one. Needless to say, we flipped. Turns out the game is more of an action game and not the traditional stealth-action game the series has been. The game has an incredible cutting mechanism that allows you to cut anything at any angle. Now I patiently wait for a Star Wars game with this tech.

2. Medal of Honor

    10/12/2010

I've been a devoted fan of the Meal of Honor series since the start. I've played every single game, and enjoyed almost all of them. When i heard about the switch to modern day, I was skeptical, but as soon as I saw the first media for it, I was convinced. The game promises to be a more realistic departure, with a more somber tone, and updated mechanics. I'm really rooting for this one. Also, DICE is making the multiplayer, which really adds to the quality of the overall package.

1. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II

    10/26/10

This may be something of an odd choice. While the first Force Unleashed was a huge success, it was a generally mediocre game. Well, a generally mediocre game to most people. I, however, loved the game and as of this writing, I have played through the PS2 version seven times. I've also spent time with the current-gen version, however, the only difference from the last-gen version are the graphics. Anyways, I loved the game, it's story, it's mechanics, everything. The Force Unleashed 2 is promising all the fun that the first one had, but improved upon. What more could I ask for?

Look for The Hype Train in the next few weeks.

Meh, not too hyped for any of those games. I'm excited for most of the stuff at the Nintendo presser. I feel like I'm a 12 year old child again.

See, a lot of that Nintendo stuff loses it's magic on me because I'm of a different era. It all does look really cool however.
