If I ever get my hands on a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, all of my anti-nostalgia advocacy will be for nothing; I will be a complete hypocrite. Nintendo is like that friend who understands your past troubles with substance abuse...then offers you booze and cigarettes anyhow.
Video Blips:
• The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is more than just a straight port; it updates several frustrating issues from the original version. That’s great, but I’m still crossing my fingers for a mute Navi. Here’s hoping Link will have the ability to yell, “I don’t believe in fairies!”
Continue after the break for Brink’s creative class system, some light-hearted team deathmatch in Firefall, and the peculiar Tap the Frog.
• It’s tough to find a feature from other influential shooters that Brink doesn’t incorporate into its gameplay. Not only does this game have specific classes, but it also includes context-sensitive objectives for each of them. If you’re a huge fan of class-based shooters, this may be your new golden chalice. Next Tuesday, look for me beating down rebels on Xbox Live.
• After seeing Firefall, it may not be a surprise to see class-based shooters becoming a rising trend. I really don’t want to see the market oversaturated with these, but if more of them feature factions with names like the “Stellar Ponies,” I may not be opposed to the impending flood.
• Just in case your iPhone didn’t have enough odd games with sexually ambiguous titles, here is Tap the Frog. The game describes itself as “small but awesome”. I could go much further with this joke, but I think it would be better to let your imagination do the rest.
