How the OMFG Moments of Gaming Have Gotten Quiet.
Wednesday, March 02, 2011

I was lying in bed about to go to sleep when I thinking about video games and the last one that made me loose my mind.  Now I’m not talking gameplay or cut senses but story.  For me personally the last game I could think about that made me lose my mind the MGS4 Shadow Moses level.  If you want to get technical that covered all three.  That was the last game that made me go OMFG.

If you played the game and are a fan of the series then you know how epic this level was.  The fact that you were going back to Shadow Moses was exciting enough but how the whole level played out basically had me putting down my controller to try and gather what the F*&# just happened.

That was almost 3 years ago and I’ve played a hell of a lot since then.  The only thing that can come close is GoW3’s Poseidon level.  But again that was gameplay.  It’s just been bumming me out that it’s been so long since we’ve seen magic like that especially in the recent games that have been released.

You’re not going to find that feeling playing Bulletstorm, Killzone3 and Dead Space 2.  The only game I can see doing this is Uncharted 3 because Naughty Dog and Kojima have the same thing in common and that life.  These companies give life to their games, their characters and their worlds with great story telling.

With game like Gears3 and inFamous2 coming out, can you honestly say that you’re going to go bananas when Marcus finds his father or why Cole’s in N'awlins and everyone has electricity powers. No, because those are just games.

…And what gamers need is more magic.
