Nintendo head honcho Satoru Iwata revealed at his GDC keynote this year that the original U.S. name for Kirby was Tinkle Popo. Maybe it's not the megaton we were hoping for, but that's pretty hilarious. It's like they were going to call him Pee Poop. Still, silly names have a way of catching on. Remember how stupid "Wii" originally sounded? Maybe if the original Kirby's Dream Land was named Tinkle Popo's Dream Land, we'd all be used to it by now.

I went through the trouble of preparing this little picture to show you what that game's box might have looked like. What do you think? Is a Kirby by any other name just as adorable and appealing? Personally, I think he does kind of look like a Tinkle Popo.
