I've always loved laser discs. They're the giant mutant cousins of DVDs and occasionally turn up at flea markets at ridiculous discounts. But did you know that Pioneer made a laser-disc video game system in the early '90s? Take a gander [via The Retroist]:
The truly amazing thing about the LaserActive is that Pioneer allowed the unit to play TurboGrafx 16 and Sega Genesis games. It certainly didn't have a broad appeal, and it only lasted a year or so before solid CD systems like the PlayStation hit the scene.
