It’s sometimes hard to believe that Duke Nukem has been around since 1991. I always get a fuzzy feeling whenever I see classic characters enter the limelight again after long absences. Duke Nukem Forever proves that you’re never too old to kick ass, chew bubblegum, rescue babes, and tell an alien to “blow it out your ass.”
Video Blips:
• Duke Nukem Forever causes me to look back at the long journey that the series has made. Duke Nukem hasn't been in a lot of games, but he remains one of the most influential characters in the medium. That just goes to show how freakin’ badass he is.
After the break, marvel at the technical savvy of Guild Wars 2’s engineer class, shiver at the creepy elements of Hunted: The Demon’s Forge, and become one with nature in Storm.
• It’s hard to deny that the engineers in Guild Wars 2 have some pretty nifty gadgets. One can only imagine a world where cannons fire themselves. It’s safe to assume that Jehovah’s Witnesses would have to rethink their recruitment strategy.
• inXile Entertainment is quite proud of the care that went into the creepiness of Hunted: The Demon’s Forge. I’m seeing more action than anything that might freak me out, but perhaps that’s just me. Having seen Twilight may have desensitized me to any form of grotesque imagery.
• Storm gives you control over the forces of nature to protect and plant a lone, vulnerable seed. I could go the easy route and make a joke about hippies enjoying a game like this, but I’d rather admit that Storm intrigues me. There’s something charming and serene about its aesthetics and subject matter.
