Canned Sonic Game Based on Old Cartoon
Mikeminotti-biopic
Wednesday, June 30, 2010

I used to love the old ABC Saturday morning Sonic cartoon. It recast Sonic the Hedgehog as a member of a freedom-fighting resistance group, battling Dr. Robotnik in hopes of saving their planet, Mobius. But I never knew that a game based on this show was once in development.

Weird. It looks more like a beat-em-up than a traditional Sonic game. I mean, just look at how slow it is. Still...I would've bought it.

I've got a surprise second video for you after the break. Read the full story for the surprise!

Surprise!

SatAM is miles and miles better than the current Sonic universe Sega has.

I absolutely loved that show as a kid - it was a big part of why I loved the games too. I remember it having suprisingly heavy subject matter for a kid's cartoon, with the whole 'fascist state kidnapping Sonic's family members' thing :)

i liked adventures of sonic more than the darker non-chili dog version that aired right after it, all the seriousness people added  to the sonic storylines is what helped kill the enjoyment people got from sonic in the long run

Man, I would have been SO mad back in the day if that had come out.  I had an SNES, but SatAM was my favorite cartoon then.

@Omar - Actually, the darker series was considered canon by Sega till ABC canned the series.  It was canceled not for a lack of ratings, but because they weren't in the right demographic if I recall correctly.  Sega of Japan was so angry with that they scrapped the whole universe and made their own, which is the one we have today.  There's still a lot of bitter people about that.

Apparently Sonic has an attitude and is the fastest thing alive.

The first game console I ever got, and the first game I played on it, was Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

Now, I'm 22, graduated college, got a full-time job, and I'm wearing a Sonic t-shirt.

I personally hate nearly every one of the Sonic games that have come out since the Dreamcast died (long live Sonic Adventure), but I'm a Sonic fan for life.
