We're glad Tomb Raider is getting a reboot. It's about time Lara Croft got a permit for entering those damn tombs.

News Blips:

Lara Croft plans to turn herself back on via reboot. Over the weekend, some leaked shots and details of a Tomb Raider reboot spread across the Internet. It's just what you'd expect, too: reworked everything (combat, story, etc.). That's it, really. Wait, we feel like we're missing something. Oh, that's right: boobs. [Joystiq]

Dragon Quest 9 sells more than 1 copy and less than 2.24 million copies. Hey, did you know that the Japanese love questing for dragons for the 9th time? If not, you're obviously not one of the 2.23 million people who bought Dragon Quest 9 last week. If this game totally bombs, we're blaming you. [Kotaku]

Analyst predicts Korea is gonna be pissssssed. Activision Blizzard has said it will try to ship out Korean favorite StarCraft 2 this year, but analyst Arvind Bhatia told the Wall Street Journal that he thinks that probably won't happen. Way to ruin the lives of these guys, Blizzard. [GI.biz]

Blah blah blah blah -- that's the sound Star Wars: The Old Republic makes. BioWare's upcoming massively multiplayer online role-playing game based on the Star Wars universe is going to be big. Not in world size, though. Big in excessive blabber -- a new article on the game's official website talks about how the script is as long as 40 novels. Yikes. There better be a frickin' CliffsNotes code. [Joystiq]

Hit the jump for some video blips, including cool Uncharted 2: Among Thieves gameplay, lots of backflips in Wet, a beady Big Daddy, and...more.

Video Blips:

Uncharted 2 ice caves gameplay is cold. Err, hot.

Wet figures out secret to slowing down time. Apparently random backflips will do the trick.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy has big sword fighting. Just wanted to state the obvious.

Cultural Blip:

Scary cute: Beady Big Daddy. Check out one of BioShock's Big Daddies made entirely in cheap, plastic beads. [technabob]

I would like to see a article on why the Dragon Quest games have never been as big in North America as they are in Japan. Dragon Quest VIII did do well over here, but 2.23 million!!!!???? Forget about it....

Does Dissidia not look like a 2 player Smash Bros?

And I prefer the athletic look to the plastic, so I am looking forward to the new Lara ;)

I don't think Americans know how to quest dragons. We're too busy playing baseball and eating pizza.

Dissidia looks exactly like a Final Fantasy fighting game should look: ridiculous.

And I also dig the new Lara Croft, too. Get it, dig? TOMB RAIDER! BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Bad Pun Michael , but did you check out my Batman vs Mini Ninjas article just 4 you. 8)

How ever I kinda hate that she wont be as silicon based as she was in previous tomb raiders. Also as far as Dragon hunting goes we will have more then enough with Dragon Age: Origins.

@Toby -- I've never written a good pun. My puns are BAD! BAD! You know it.

@Lance -- Yeah, that's like talking about Clu Clu Land and not making fun of...hmm...nevermind.

I thought Tomb Raider: Underworld was a good way to get the series rebooted but I guess they need a totally new direction instead of trying to get the hardcore fans of the series back on.

@Michael Donahoe: Do you think you're going to sink some game time into that Star Wars: The Old Republic? Will Mr. Kennedy... Kennedy be joining you since he's off the WWE roster?

How many times can you reboot a reboot of a reboot? Seriously. Does Tomb Raider own everyone's soul or something. Don't get me wrong, I loved the past 3 Tomb Raiders more than most but "reboot" has become such a PR-bullshit term over the last couple years in video games. It generally just means a sequel that doesn't copy the it's predecessor beat for beat, which is what a sequel should be to begin with.

I like how the new Lara Croft looks, much more realistic from the looks of it, especially in the case of "missing" assets you mentioned, Michael!

Not to sound like a negative Nancy, but did anyone really think Starcraft 2 was going to come out this year? I mean, this is Blizzard we are talking about.
