Puzzler: Identify the video-game backgrounds (part 2)

Video-game heroes travel all over the world to save princesses, win martial-arts tournaments, and collect ancient treasures. If you've been paying attention (and I know you have), you can identify games simply by looking at images of stage backgrounds. Can you name the titles that feature these pixelated environments?

3/10

#1 is unmistakeable! I actually never played it, but I remember sitting around my older brother and his friends as they tried to beat that game.

I've never been able to complete #2, so that background was lost to me.

#5 is also unmistakeable, and I did play the heck out of that one. With the code and a friend, of course.

Every single ad for #6 includes this scene. You could've gone a bit more obscure with this one. So, thanks for the point!

I was absolutely certain that I'd played and enjoyed #10, but for the life of me could not remember what game it was.

Hey, how about a puzzler for life containers?

Just 3 out of 10, but I can tell you enjoyed the puzzler. :)

You can access that particular stage from #2 (Quick Man) any time. I'll never forget it because I got killed so many times by those f***ing lasers.

Dinosaurs...never forget. I bet some people will mistake #6 for Blanka's Amazonian home.

Speaking of dinosaurs, our own Jay Henningsen made a puzzler about health bars. Check it out:

The scene from number 7 must be the only side scrolling segment in the game, but it's must also be iconic because it's the only one i got lol

What was going on during that scene? I honestly can't remember.

I believe you're about to escape from prison when you're confronted with a boss on the bridge. The side scrolling cements the feeling of being trapped, where normally you can avoid enemies. Man now i wanna go back and play it again.

Nice, dude. Discussing movies with you must be awesome.

haha the Dragon tank is less menacing and more adorable than i remember...

It looked epic when I first played through that section. Nowadays, I have to wonder how the bridge stayed up after it fell apart. Ah, the 16-bit era was so comical back in the days.

Five out of 10.

#5 is the coolest section of the game. Those hooks killed me hundreds of times. And those spike walls really suck. Lol.

Thank goodness for the Konami code, seriously. I know there are freaks out there that beat the game without cheats, even with just one life, but I needed all the help I could get. Stupid, spiked walls!

I actually got good enough to make it to that section on only three lives. Of course, I never survived after that part. I was pretty proud of my achievement though. I need gamer points for all the effort. And a pretty icon too. Lol.

I didn't get number 8, but the rest I got. Number 2 I had to guess though.

Good job on getting #8. *high five*

Lol. It looks like a rap music video involving purple skies and hills and whatnot. I probably could have gotten that one if I was clever enough.

The only one I didn't get was #10. I mean, I remember playing it, but I don't remember that screen. LOL

It's Filmore, the first level of the game. :)

Whenever I see that map, I keep thinking that it's a 16-bit upgrade of Zelda 2. Lol.

The first game that came to my mind for #9 was Dragon's Lair. You trick me mentally, every time.

4/10

I got #3 by power of deduction: it's the only 2D Sonic I've never finished.

Couldn't put my finger on #6, but going on it's art style, I thought maybe Lion King. Boy, was I off.

I knew I was wrong on #10, but the ropes on the trees drew me to Sparkster or Rocket Knight.

Pissed I missed #7, but I gave it a good shot with FFVI.

This was a good one.
