RIP Motorstorm Apocalypse

Motorstorm Apocalypse can't get a break. The game was scheduled to be released a week after a 9.0 Earthquake struck Japan, and was delayed around the world as a result. The delays began in Japan and trickled to Europe which also scheduled Motorstorm Apocalypse to be released a week after the Earthquake in Japan. The delay in Europe was understandable. I figured the release date of April 12th in North America would be solid since it would be a month since the disaster. I was wrong. Days after delaying the game in Europe Sony announced they were delaying the release of Motorstorm Apocalypse in North America. I knew the game was doomed after that.

It was only a matter of time before another natural disaster would strike somewhere in the world. Unfortunately that natural disaster struck Japan again. A 7.4 Earthquake has struck the island today in an apparent aftershock from the 9.0 earthquake last month. Tsunamis are now expected to strike the island. My thoughts and prayers go out to Japan. Today's Earthquake isn't helping the release of Motorstorm: Apocalypse.

If you have a copy of Motorstorm: Apocalypse I strongly suggest you don't open it. It's only a matter of time before the game gets canceled, and the copies that are available become collectors items. This could be worth than Dragonball GT: Final Bout if you play your cards right. I know there was a round of copies that were available in Australia, and there are review copies floating around. Good luck finding a copy. You heard it first.

Not only do I doubt that Motorstorm: Apocalypse is going to get cancelled, I find the main point of this post to be repugnant.

Poor Japanese people getting hit by another natural disaster ... let's all act like greedy opportunists and make some money off of this terrible tragedy.

Seriously?

You're a hater. What money do you speak of?

"and what money?"
This:

Times are tough bro. The game doesn't have a release date, and there are copies circulating. I'm just giving people a heads up. I had nothing to do with delaying a game that was already golden. Personally I think Motorstorm Apocalypse should have never been delayed in the US. Does that make me insensitive as well as a greedy opportunist?

"It was only a matter of time before another natural disaster would strike somewhere in the world."

Nevermind the moral considerations, Erol. Releasing a game like Motorstorm: Apocalypse in the midst of a terrible human tragedy like Sendai is bad business. It casts the developer/publisher in an extremely negative light.

I know. That's why I don't see the game ever being released. It's not like Sony can schedule the next Natural Disaster and release Motorstorm Apocalypse before it happens.

Errol - It's already been released in the EU and the UK. There's still plenty available, ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-Motorstorm-Apocalypse-PS3/dp/B003NSBMJ4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1302204321&sr=8-1 ) and since the PS3 is conveniently region-free, anyone can have a copy right now if they're willing to pay a little extra for shipping.

I heard a wave of copies were released due to the sudden delay, but Sony won't distribute anymore. If I had the money, I'd purchase a copy from Amazon and hold onto it.

Errol - That post is nearly a month old. Also, if you actually investigate that link you provided further, they only halted further shipments to AUSTRALIA, because it had already been released there. The actual statement from Sony said (and this is a direct quote): "In Australia, the game is already in distribution, however we are ceasing any further shipments and have pulled the total marketing launch campaign in consideration of both of these recent tragic events."

Since then, the game was given an official and perfectly normal release in the UK on March 31. ( http://uk.playstation.com/ps3/games/detail/item284960/MotorStorm%C2%AE-Apocalypse/ )

Well I'll be. Until the game gets a solid release date in the United States blah blah blah lol

I noticed you have changed your last name, Errol. You can keep the change if you want to, but bear in mind that if you don't use your real name you're disqualified from contests and front-page consideration.

Thanks for reading.

Can I use my stage name "Errol James" instead of my two last names?

Wow... just wow.

@Errol Sorry, but no. It would be a double standard to let you continue using your stage name, even though you used it in the past. The implications you can take from this aren't great, but rules are rules.

no biggie. I just hope the people that know me as Errol James everywhere else can figure out that it's the same guy here. I'll just tell them "I did it for the front page"

You could always include a link to your blog at the end of the article, since you seem to cross-post most of your work and many other writers do that too. "Originally posted on Errol Games" is fine.
