Trophies, would I be going too far?

So last night I was at my buddies house, and like always one of the topics we were discussing was gaming. I'm not a hardcore gamer, like meaning I can't play all day, either is my buddy, as were both in University. Him and I though have a special relationship of competing for trophies. First I was like a level above him until recently he just caught up to me and might lap me a level now. We kind of had a thing where whoever got the first Platinum Trophy, kinda won first in our race, (yes I know, our first, as we can't spend our lives playing, I wish). Anyways, over the Christmas beak, I received an unexpected text that said, "Hey Jon, guess who has a Platinum Trophy". I laughed to myself, but was kinda disappointed that I never got it first.

Anyways, so last night, we were talking and he was showing me one of his friends that he has on PSN. He was showing me how high a level this guy had, with a number of trophies that was pretty low. He then showed me one of the few games this gentleman had got these trophies in. Terminator Salvation has twelve trophies. Eleven of them are gold and the last one is a platinum. I was like, "WOW, Seriously?", we were just laughing, all of them were gold, and they all were for just beating the game, like every chapter you got one. So you didn't have to collect anything or accomplish anything special. I was joking that I am going to buy the game for the trophies. We then proceeded to look up this games rating, I knew it was going to be terrible, like come on, a movie game, I've come to realize there's only a few good movie games. Anyways, Terminator got a D+ from 1up.com. So now I'm thinking that, maybe those Gold Trophies are a reward for playing through this awful game. If this game is twenty bucks or below, I'm going to buy it, or I might rent it, we'll see. My friend and I kinda made a truce, that we wouldn't buy this horrible game, but then we said, if one of us does buy it, kudos to that guy. If anyone of you has played this game, let me know if it's worth my time for the trophies.

I don;t think you're going too far. I remember reading somewhere that if you ever wanted to raise your gamer score on XBL then play King Kong as it only took a few hours to complete and you got a straight 1000 point for doing so.

Games like Terminator and King Kong kinda only exist now for trophy hordes and achievement whores.

Yeah, that's basically what the local Videogame store guy said, he bought the game just for the achievements. I wonder if soon I won't be playing games to relax or to just compete, lol.
