Parts one and two of the fifth installment is up!

This is Bitmob X-Com's fourth episode. If you're new, read the announce post first, then catch up on the exploits of the community with the first, second, and third episodes. Follow the whole series with the Bitmob X-Com tag.

X-Com -- the last line of defense against the alien menace. You are the brave men and women who will fight the invaders and drive them from our planet. The organization will arm you with rifles, heavy cannons, and bad language so that your courage knows no bounds. Suit up -- we’re going to war!

Last week, we left off with the team back at base after a desert mission. Three unfortunate soldiers died during the investigation: Adam Doan from a self-inflicted explosion and John Michael and Guillermo Guitterrez from plasma-based weaponry.

Ready to avenge their deaths, we launch our interceptors in pursuit of the next UFO spotted by our radar systems. Headed east at a speed of 616 knots (nautical miles per hour), the very small craft evades our air force.

The next alien invader isn't so lucky -- we shoot it down and send in the Skyranger. Our strike team now consists of myself, James DeRosa, Jay Henningsen, Lilly Palmer, Thomas Billings, Kevin Spillman, Michael Pangelina, Aaron Wegner, Edgar Mena, and Rob Koulakjian.

Read on to find out what happens!

I would have to go with the Mind Probe.

Heavy laser, personal armor. I still love this series!

Yeah I say Heavy Plasma - Personal Armour too.

Alien grenades is a close third.

We got enough firepower for now with the laser rifles, so we should research heavy plasma later. My spirit advises that you research personal armor so that you don't end up like me, a regular Corporal Jenkins.

Heck ya, final got some action.  Most of the time I'm just average but sometimes I'm bloody brilliant.

As for research I'd go with Personal Armour and Sectoid Navigator (Navigator=Hyper Wave Decoder, expensive but has 100%, or something, detection rate for incoming UFOs, also displays UFO type and mission profile.)

I wasn't able to start up the game last night, so you guys have one more day to vote on strategic options. And don't forget that you can enlist at any time!

I'm on the combat roster, woo hoo! I'm going to jump on the Heavy Plasma - Personal Armor (or armour if you left that British English in there...) bandwagon. Any plans for building a second base for production?

No immediate plans -- we're really low on funds. I think we have less than a half of a million in the bank, and it's only the third week of February. We'll need that money to see us through to the end of the month.

From the grave, I'd still like the Bitmob X-Com operation to continue. I'd like less fallen operatives (like this week!), so I vote for the Armour.

Second vote, something exciting for our Scientists! If I were one, I'd be all over that Sectoid Navigator.
