My experiment consists of how long I can last with out renewing my subscription to XBL. Since using XBL it really has been my gaming hub to use. Now with my wife wanting me to use my paperweight playstation 3 more as a gaming console of choice. Now I will break how we got to this experiment and how we are going to proceed hopefully.
This all started two months ago when I was playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance with two other people I know. So after starting the room we got about ten minutes into the game. My 360 shuts off and gives me two red left lights. Knowing this is not a full failure. I disreguard the lights and try once more. It takes about the same time for the failure. After this failure I pre warned them I would have to switch out consoles which took about another five minutes.
After talking with the wife we really don't have enough to send this console back to microsoft for the 120 dollars and shipping. So basically we are living off one 360 with three different Hard Drives (Wife, 16yr Old Daughter & Mine). Because we can't afford this and I am not going to take away from my game money I been saving. My wife offers up the idea why not use the Playstation 3 for more gaming. For once I quote my wife "If we buy a PS3 you are not going to use it for gaming, but for Blue Ray Movies." Her excuse this time is, "I don't care about blue-rays when I can watch regular dvds on my laptop or portable dvd player so play games. This would give me the excuse not to play 360 and cut down on a subscription fee as well that runs about 30.00 if you can time amazon, buy.com and the lot of them stores.
So taking the money I was going to spend on my 360 games and 360 points. I slowly been taking them to the PS3. September was going to be a 360 game, but now I am buying Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 for PS3 as well as the rest of my games this year. Now if Fat Princcess would ever come out.
People will always ask me about Halo or Gears of War and I wont be able to play them. Personally I don't care about either of those game as they are not my game of choice. People tell me that Infinity Ward's DLC comes out first on 360. Well since I am not really playing shooting games unless I rent them this does not effect me either.
Really I am going to see if I can make the switch and not fall to buy a XBL subscription card. Maybe it is me, but I want to really see if I enjoy the PS3 as much as I did with XBL.
