Please help support Evan and Team Bitmob as they raise money for a very worthy cause!
For the past two years, Sarcastic Gamer has hosted Extra Life, a 24-hour charity gaming marathon benefitting pediatric cancer treatment and research at Texas Children's Hospital. I have participated both years, and I'm doing it again this time. It's a fun event for a great cause, and this year I thought I'd try something different: instead of hitting you up for donations to my fundraising drive, I have set up a team for Bitmob, and I'm asking you to join.
Here's how it works: On Saturday, October 16th, participants all over the world will play video games for 24 hours. Console, PC, Facebook...it doesn't matter. The main thing is that for 24 hours, we will band together to play games for a cause, and ask our friends and family to sponsor us. The standard goal is to find four people to sponsor at $1 an hour (for a total of $96), but obviously no amount will be turned down.
The biggest change to how Extra Life works this year is that instead of all proceeds going to Texas Children's Hospital, the event is now tied in with the Children's Miracle Network (CMN). This means that all the money you raise goes to a CMN hospital of your choosing. You can still play for Texas Children's if you want, but you also have the option to keep it local.
If you're interested, here's how you join....
1.) Go to the Extra Life fundraising website.
2.) Click on "Sign Up..." on the right side.
3.) Enter your information and click "Register." Don't worry about "Personal Text" until after you're done, because there will be default text on your page. You can also upload a picture if you want.
4.) Select a hospital and a fundraising goal, and you're done.
If you want to join the Bitmob team:
1.) Once you're all set up and logged into your account, click on "My Team" over on the right side.
2.) Click on "Find a Team."
3.) Search for "Bitmob."
4.) When the result comes up (I'm listed as the owner), click "Join."
Once that's done, all you have left to do is find some sponsors and figure out what you're going to play for 24 hours.
This is a great event, and Bitmob is a great community. Let's rock.
