Editor's note: Check out this intricately edited personal history of arcade games by Shea Murphy. The guy has a deep and abiding love of buttons, that's for sure. I think he might like Zero Punctuation, too, as he's got a similar breathless narration style going on. -Demian

One of my best friends put this video together. Most of it was filmed at FunSpot in Laconia, New Hampshire. I'm the little guy with his back to the camera in a few scenes with the wig on. I thought some of you out there might find it interesting. Enjoy.

Very cool feature! I remember my dad telling me how much money he'd sink into Dragon's Lair every time he walked into an arcade. Don't recall if he ever beat it... I myself made it to Daphne, and I don't remember the exact details, but I remember screaming and being escorted out of the arcade, which meant I had to wait a week before playing Knights of the Round again. I never did play Dragon's Lair again. Don Bluth can suck it.

Your comments on the "evolution" taking the fun out of games strikes home pretty hard for me. I think I can pick maybe four or five truly great games to come out in the past 15 or so years, whereas the rest seem to be decent temporary distractions at best. However, seeing as even arcades that only hold classical games are still going out of business, it seems more likely that the real culprit is the gamers themselves.

And the fact that it takes a dollar to get a game going anymore.

Glad to see some people liked Shea's video. He worked really hard editing it and hasn't been getting many hits on Youtube. I figured I would share it since everyone here has a fondness of video games.

I have a weakness to Time Crisis as well. Worked in a mall for years where the local arcade's only good game was Time Crisis.

I want to thank Demian for the editor's note. I was dumb and for got to show my props by saying the video was by Shea Murphy.

Cool video! I've been to Funspot several times in the past since I used to live real close to there, and it's a really cool spot. I always went there as a little kid but could still appreciate the old school games even if they were dated compared to my super nintendo.
