Mega Man 10's Easy Mode Made Easier

I do not endorse Mega Man 10's easy mode. The Mega Man games are supposed to be hard. If you can't beat it, then move on. Hey, I couldn't finish a Mega Man game until I was in my 20s, and it wasn't for a lack of trying. But that didn't make me love them any less during my childhood.

Still, at least the easy mode won't be this bad [via The Kartel]:

I personally don't see easy mode as being a negative. Just a way to expand the audience to include people whom suffer from supreme gamer's rage and can't stand retrying something over and over again the first time they play it. Still, Mega Man is sort of one of those 'you shall not pass' francises that no one expects to be easy at all, so I don't think adding an easy mode to a game that's only real selling point for many people is it's difficulty will expand the audience that much. Also hilarious video. Reminds me of bionic commando rearmed's easy mode. The original game was so hard that to make it playable for the unskilled they had to create 'newb platforms'. It underscored to me how much the fact that I enjoyed the game on easy mode and can't do anything else seperates me so fully from some hardcore gamers.

Mega Man is taking after Nintendo's way of thinking. Let the AI do all the work :)

lol Great video.

I might get Mega Man 10 and use the Easy mode.

I've always been terrible with Mega Man games. I have the collection for PS2, and never got further than beating 1 or 2 bosses for the first 4 games. I bought Mega Man 9 and have yet to beat a boss.

It's frustrating to get slightly further every time I play a level and then lose as soon as I see a new screen. Trial and error is fine, but I find Mega Man punishing because it takes so much effort to try again.

I can see myself getting through a few bosses in 10 if I first play through on Easy and see what the level design is like.

Jeffery: In case you missed it, Mega Man 2 and 3, the games that the new installments are modeled after, caused many thrown controllers. I think Easy is a copout and a perpetuation of the current trend in videogames that I'm trying to ESCAPE by jumping into an old-school 2D platformer.

I can't argue that money talks, though, and giving people who'd normally not be able to play the game competently access to the game at a more elementary level increases sales.

Take World of Warcraft, for instance.

I think this video gets at the heart of the question, "what is playing video games all about?"

The "easy mode" depicted describes the type of gamer who's most interested in the end goal, not the journey.

On the other hand, there are those of us who play for the challenge along the way, not the credits.

I'd argue that Mega Man misses the point with an easy mode, since this is a game that's always been about the journey, not the ending.

Pierski's video is starting to go viral ;D...well sort of.As I said back in a post on his website,I see no problem with an easy mode for a game or difficulty settings. It is how they are implemented into the game that makes the difference, and honestly as long as it is not the main feature of the entire game,I see no harm in it.To me,most of the people who grew up with the series and the "hardcore" gamers seem to be the ones having issue with it the easy mode, seeing it as belittling the series and tarnishing it by letting it be more accessible to people who normally would have trouble even completing one level of a game like that.

I don't think difficulty is the only real selling point of a MegaMan game. The series is famous for great gameplay and music too. So there are reasons that people would want to play MegaMan 10 without getting their asses kicked.

I'm not really seeing a problem with this. It's an option.
