Retro Ads: Gallagher's Gallery

You might remember Gallagher. He's the comedian that smashes all the things he hates with a gigantic mallet. While his early acts revolved around melons and malfunctioning gadgets, his routine grew progressively more hateful.

I prefer to remember him in the height of his popularity where he only needed to smash a watermelon to please a crowd.

Gallagher was so popular in the early '90s that he even starred in an arcade release from American Laser Games called Gallagher's GalleryRather than smashing things with mallets, players followed Gallagher through various locations and shot things he didn't like.

American Laser Games made many shooting-gallery titles in the '90s, but this one is perhaps their rarest.

What ever happened to Gallagher? I know he suffered a heart attack or something on stage not too long ago, but man how the mighty have fallen. I remember watching him on TV a looong time ago and waiting for him to smash some stuff on stage. He was a good comedian, shame he fell off planet earth. His style was unique.

I think I recall seeing this game back in the day. Or maybe just an ad for it...
