It's official, no new video game hardware can be thought of anymore. Motion control for the consoles has already started with the Nintendo Wii back in 2006, and for portable devices, the Apple IPod Touch in 2007. Touch started with the Nintendo DS in 2004, and using your body to play started with the Eyetoy (not the Kinect) for the Playstation 2 in 2003. 3D with no glasses is starting this year with the 3DS. There is still many more made like console to handheld connectivity. The only one that I can think of that is left is the ability to use you mind to play, but that is already being started up by Mattel's Mind flex. So how do platform makers advance their platforms without them being criticized for copying. They upgrade it. Sony and Microsoft already has got the message, and we all know what they done. Microsoft built the Kinect for Xbox 360 with better graphics and senors than it's precedors, plus using the ability of hand signs and talking to navigate through the menus. Sony (I still can't belive they didn't get criticized) built the Move for PS3 with only better graphics and sleeker design (No Sony fans, force pushback doesn't count, it's just a really high rumble). I think Nintendo upgraded the Wii by that really stupid drawing thing, which is just another attempt at casual gamers (darn you Nintendo). Oh well, the 3DS is coming out. So what will platforms do next? We'll find out when Nintendo reveals it's new console (i'm calling it the NES5).I think it looks like everyone is racing to be the first platform to be able to play with your mind because of the shortage of invention ideas.
