Bitmob Community Jukebox No. 28 -- Time Trippin' Edition

This edition of the Jukebox brings us a veritable patchwork of community-submitted songs from every epoch of gaming history.

Bitmobber Alex Martin and intern Jasmine Maleficent Rea chose songs from The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom and Grand Theft Auto 4 that represent the current console generation. Bitmob moderator Lance Darnell moves one step back with a tune from Shadow of the Colossus, and contributor Ryan Conway takes a stroll through the PlayStation era by reminiscing about a Eastern-influenced ditty from Twisted Metal 2. One of the community's harshest game critics, Jeffrey Sandlin, represents, straight 16-bit style, with a Blues riff from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and I round out the time-traveling choices with an NES-era classic from Mega Man 2.

To all you old-farts out there: I'm sorry. The ride stopped before we got to all the way back to the Atari years. But who wants to hear songs from the Stone Age, anyway?

Got a tune you want to hit the community with? Click the jump and throw it in the mix.

I've got three ways to get the party started:

Method 1: Pick and Choose

Method 3: I'm Tired of This Playlist

Tired of this week's Jukebox selections? Want to scope which classic songs have already been nabbed by other Bitmobbers? Then check out The Bitmob Community Jukebox Archive. Contributor Evan Killham created -- and maintains -- a comprehensive list of every song that the community and I have ever chosen.

With hundreds of tunes available in the Archive, you don't need to fret if this week's jams aren't to your taste. Just click the link, and the records keep on spinnin'!

For all you newcomers, here's how it works -- I've got just two simple rules for submitting songs:

1) Songs from music games with original music and licensed songs from game soundtracks like Grand Theft Auto are OK. Submissions from games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band will not be accepted. Otherwise, this post may turn into a competition between people's favorite bands.

2) Only one submission response per person, per week.

When you've thought of a selection, put it in the comments below. And don't worry about the theme you see in the title of the post -- I name each edition retroactively.

I will always try to find the official name of any song I use -- whether it comes from myself or the community. If I am unable to verify a song's title, I will mark it with an asterisk (*).

Finally, if you'd like to win the Double-Plus Good Song of the Week (the weekly best of award), try to think of an obscure song or a song you think the community and I have overlooked in previous posts.

P.S. Does anyone else remember Fantavision? That sure was a crappy tech demo...errr...game.

Great choice, Jasmine! I was going to suggest the theme from world 5 for this week, but I can't seem to find it anywhere on the internetz. Winterbottom has some great music.
I've been having fun deciding what to post in this community jukebox thing since I started it a couple weeks back. It's nice to be able to mix my music appreciation with my gameing enthusiasm every once in a while. Also nice to prove to people I have good taste outside of hating on things LOL. Got a real corker this week. Probably the best song from a game that's music was so catchy to me when I bought the game my DS turned into an I pod for an afternoon. thank god for sound test mode. Sonic rush- Jeh Jeh Rocket (sonic mix) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhq0IpvyMQk
Fantavision? Was that the Fireworks Simulator? I think that one was released directly to clearance bins. Heavenly Sword -- Title Screen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_lng0R1sHA
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW3rtpW5zmU A little something form pokemon pear/diamond. thanks for the recognition. I really do enjoy writing for Bitmob. ;)

That Gitaroo Man piece is some of the greatest game music of all time.

I always thought the official name was "Legendary Theme."

The link to the archive is borked at the moment. I hope this hasn't been used before:

Yoshi's Island - Flower Garden.

@Alex - That one has not been used.

The Archive itself is a little borked at the moment, but I have a master list if anyone needs me to check a song's availability.

Here's my next submission: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0B7zUzmfgk

Sewage Plant, from the PS1 Spider-Man game. By the always magnificent Tommy Tallarico. Top notch game with a top notch soundtrack.

First Hand Experience In Second-Hand Love - Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

Say what you will about the GTA: Stories games, the music from Liberty City is fantastic. There is a whole station dedicated to Giorgio Moroder!

Excellent music this week! Time for some more submissions I guess!

Silent Hill 4 - Fever Chill

@Greg I can't believe I didn't catch that. I probably spent 40 hours trying to beat the hard mode of Gitaroo Man. It's been fixed.
