Cultural Blips: Retro Duo Console, Yeti Kong, Mario Foot Tattoo, and More

Even though we totally support retro consoles, the Retro Duo just isn't doing it for us. It's like it's missing something. What could it be? Oh, yeah -- that's right: Rambo.

Cultural Blips:

Old-school console perfect for nostalgic blowhards. Pretend like modern consoles are lame by sporting this two-in-one Retro Duo console that allows you to play both NES and SNES cartridges. Or you can just download an emulator. Uh, not that we encourage such piracy! Ahem. [technabob]

Yeti Kong is hot even though technically he is cold. This t-shirt for a Donkey Kong clone starring a Yeti may look real, but it's not. Just like the Yeti himself. Meta. [Offworld]

This Mario foot tattoo stinks. Some dude decided to tattoo Mario and Luigi on his feet for some reason. Our guess: So people won't have to see how terribly stupid they are. [Geekologie]

Boo papercraft good enough not to see. Try spotting the Mario enemy Boo in this papercraft. Can you see it? Yeah, well, so can we. And you thought you were special! [Nintendo Papercraft]

Even though emulators are everywhere and can even be put on the DS, that Retro Duo looks awesome!

Anybody actually own a retro duo? I'm on the fence about it...

Now only if the Duo would add a Sega Slot 8)

@Travis - What I want to know is whether it uses that traditional KEY to connect the cartridge to the console, or if it uses the new fancy one that connects without any physical contact. If it uses the latter than I am on board, especially since I still have most of my old NES/SNES games.

@Toby - Thats a damn good idea! Imagine what a console would look like with SNES/NES/GENSIS/SMS/TG-16 slots? It would look like one of those universal memory card adapters...and I would buy it!

@Lance now we would need people who would want to make old games though which is the bad part. I mean if capcom can't remake Chip & Dale Rescue rangers by now there is no hope for the future.

That Boo papercraft is tripping me out! How'd they do that? The time and patience needed for that is quite impressive. I'm just curious, but where would you be able to pick up one of those duo consoles?

@David- Amazon. They're like 30 bucks and all your old snes controllers will work with it as well. I'd just hate to blow that cash on something that can't everything I'd like it to. If it plays imports and domestics that might be the selling point for me.

Wow, that Mario tattoo was a waste of money. It's going to last like a day.

Wow. I can understand the Mario cartridge, but is anyone else wondering why the holy hell the Retro Duo people thought Shaq-Fu was the SNES game of choice to model their system with?

The mario tattoo would have made sense if he had a goomba tattooed on his foot. It would be awful, but at least make sense.
