Why do so many superheroes find themselves conveniently in the midst of a power-imbuing bomb or radioactive explosion? Cole MacGrath, the protagonist of Infamous 2, was nothing more than a humble courier before his run-in with something called the “Ray Sphere.” Deus ex machina much?

• I wasn’t a big fan of the original Infamous -- even though I beat it twice, for some reason -- but the gameplay in Infamous 2 may change my mind. I can literally suck the energy out of people? Sign me up!
After the break, take a look at the upcoming Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, a tasty cinematic trailer for Street Fighter X Tekken, and some killer customization in Conduit 2.
• Dead Rising 2: Off the Record is bringing back the series’ original cameraman with a cause, Frank West. It’s good to know I can again take snapshots of half-naked zombies in erotic poses.
• Street Fighter X Tekken looks to pit the perpetually pissed characters of Namco against the curiously colorful ones of Capcom. Why everyone seems to be so wet and juicy is beyond me. It does look pretty, though.
• While the Wii still fights desperately to establish a quality shooter franchise, Conduit 2 aims to capture the magic of Call of Duty’s customization options. I’ll be honest: As simplified as this feature looks, it does look decently thought-out.
